My friend bougd a Sparkle 9800GX2, the problem is it's showing artifact's tryed the 174.53 and 174.74 driver's both show the same results. The strange thing is when i make a printscr and paste it the artifact's are gone. It's not really a psu problem he has a 850 WATT from be quiet. RMA Time ? Artifact's are showing big time in 3dmark 06 all over the freaking screen ... not a temprature problem tho

No artifacts in crysis some in Frontlines - Fuel of War

    thnx anyhow :)

Can you be more specific? What I have experienced is pin point red dots "dancing" around the screen, even when ideling, but not all the time. I have experienced this on two 8800GTS512 all BFGs and I also an ASUS 8800GT512. I am waiting for my third BFG through an RMA. My PSU is putting out 12.3v on all 4 rails as measured with Vmeter. I have an 8800GTS320 that has no problem.

    Hello to all!

This card is not busted! I have exactly the same problem. Disable multi-gpu and everything will be fine.
I rma´d first 9800gx2 I had because after driver install screen was so messed up I couldnt even navigate in windows. Tried all available drivers out there, same results so I thought it was the card. Now with the new card I have the same problem. I am using an old 975x chipset P5w DH D and belive this is the source of the problem. Playing assassins creed atm with the half of the card without any problem.

Disabling multi gpu disables sli. Meaning worse performance.

Well it depends on how the drivers see the card, its a single card with 2 GPUs. SLI would mean you have 2 cards ib 2 PCI-E slots. but you dont.

I realy think its more a case cooling problem, I know a friend of mine got the GX2, i tried to stop him, but any way he is now on his 2nd after RMAing the first one due to almost the same problem, and after looking at his Bestbuy prebuilt Ace and 1 case fan, I new what was going on.

Any way we added 1 intake fan, and a side intake fan, and problem was solved.

FYI he is also now runing it in single display mode in non SLI, works good zero problems, his to is BFG.

Is it just me or is the 9800gx2 woefully unreliable the amount of 'my 9800 gx2 has problems' threads has been alot

    yea, who would have thought..

haha any way i just saw another post, and if your board has 1 x 16x pci-e or when on sli 2x 8x pci-e you cabt run in multi gpu, damn what a waste.

Unfortunately it does not fix it. I doubt nvidia or asus will ever make a fix for this, their answer: buy a new mobo.

    I'm on my 2nd 9800 GX2.

both artifacted while playing .avi files then cause a system reboot.

The first one I had died.

The replacement is going fine in games (just the avi problem which seems intermittent), just occasionaly it will send to game i'm playing to desktop.

Fingers crossed its just a driver issue.

The 2 cards were form different vendors but the bios's on them are identical.

My BFG 9800GX2 is awsome best card i have ever had. Kicks the ass of my old ultra.

As for artifacting it defo sounds like an heat issue to me.

And as for the other post , you may wana take alook around the forums to see the amount of 8800 problem threads. Not to mention the 3 ultra's i went through.

Yep I agree, wipes the floor with it.

My issue regarding the .avi's defo isn't heat, has to be driver related or something software based / imcompatibility.

My card idles around 57-60 (61-62 whilst playing avi's) and reaches 80 load max whilst gaming.

My BFG 9800GTX+ get red artifacts while on desktop(not gaming), but not always.
The games are running fine! I thinks its a driver issue!
i got the driver stopped responding error for some games too.
    any solution?

    Thanks for the reply!
Tried different drivers, the latest version 180.48 didnt solve the problem
heard that the 174.74 is a stable version, so i installed it yesterday.
I updated bios nd mobo chipset drivers too. must wait for 1-2 days nd see if
    the problem is still there.
