8800GT with a single slot reference cooler = a whole lotta heat 8800GTS is faster, and it has the dual slot cooler, and is $10 more pretty simple really
I have recently found another 8800GTS but buy EVGA (I prefer from them) but are prices to much? What is the difference between these 3: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139641 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/138732 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139633 EDIT: Or new 9800GTX I've just read about http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-069-BG&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1009
I stand by mt GT, awesome buy. Get the GTS only if you can find it for a few dollars more (it's not worth +15-20% tho).
but it has about a 15-20% increase in performance in crysis which is the main game I play Any1 have any thoughts on 9800GTX? (Why is it so cheap?)
It's cheap because its performance is supposed to be on par with a 8800GTS, which is what it is built from. (G92 chip.) It has better memory and the PCB design is a bit refined. So it performs slightly better. We'll see what its true performance is tomorrow when Hilbert gives us a comprehensive review.
214.99 GBP = 426.223 USD not so ''cheap'' as far as price goes, very cheap as far as performance goes, keep with the GTS IMHO
Only a 10 pound difference? Go with the GTS, when I got my GT there was over a $100 difference between the GT and GTS (here anyway).
Seems that the warranty is usually the difference between buying a "name" brand like EVGA or BFG and a lesser-known maker. In this case, I would say no, it's not worth paying that much more for EVGA. Now, some good news and some bad news. The bad news: the link to the first GTS is now showing that it's sold out, so if you're committed to one of the first two types of cards you mentioned, you're stuck with either slightly inferior performance from the 8800 GT or paying quite a bit too much money for the EVGA GTS. The good news: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-069-BG&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1009 still seems to be in stock I've heard many good things about the 9800 gtx, some of which come from Hilbert's review on this site. Do you OC? If you do, I would absolutely recommend this card, as I've heard from many people that the overclock potential of this card is insane. See this, for instance: http://shrani.si/?1z/U9/cGW9X7V/1/snap2.jpg No GT or GTS can come close to that. And even if you don't oc, the performance increase you'll see over even the GTS makes it worth it, especially when you're choosing between a 215+ quid GTS and the 9800 gtx for 200 inc vat.
Just realized that ocuk also has BFG 8800 gts 512 for 170 inc vat: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-059-BG&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=927 If the 30 quid matters, and you're not really a die-hard overclocker, I think I'd recommend this one. BFG comes with a terrific warranty, too.
I do overclock a bit so i would overclock it and thats why i want EVGA, the warrenty covers overclocking and cooler changes, im not sure if BFG do this but now i think i will get a 9800gtx (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-052-EA&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1009) from EVGA as it is not to much more than the other brands.
Evga 8800 gts all the way..I have it..had a 8600 gt what a big diff..plus as always..Evga = step up program..
I think i will definately go with EVGA but i still prefer the look of 9800GTX with it's overclocking potential and higher fps
