Whats up everyone!? With the arrival of my 110CFM Sanyo fan (and the absolute need for better spi and wprime scores) I decided to setup a test. I ran a dryer exhaust tube from outside my house (temp about -5*C) to my heatsink to see how some sub-zero air would affect my overclocks. I was very satisfied with the results (even a little suprised!) and have concluded I will be benching like this every winter (with a second tube for the gfx card next time). Ambient room temps were about 15*C.

Old Bench Results (must beat them all!)

    Spi - 10.093s, Spi32M - 12m 40.611s
    wPrime32M - 16.540s, wPrime1024M - 10m 1.110s
    Max FSB (Benchable @ 9x Multi) - 495Mhz

Dryer tube duct taped to a 140mm-to-120mm fan adapter

I was very pleased I took home a 5th place finish in wPrime1024M for an e8400! I also beat every score I set out to! (totally demoslished my previous best score for wPrime1024M and MaxFSB)

Thank you! I couldve pushed it farther I think, but I was iffy about going over 1.575v (in bios - 1.52 after vdroop in win). I also need to do the benches on win 2003 (for spi) and XP (for the rest) as vista is hitting me with a performance drop Im sure.

*note if you throw a chunk of dry ice around heatsinks with a shop towel under it you can do E=A all times of year just keep an eye out for condesation;):

Something just like this has been posted multiple times. The problem with it is the condensation as the cold air from the outside reaches the warm air inside the case. Get enough condensation and say bye bye to PC.

Just run a de-humidifier if you're worried about condensation. I'd say any % under 40 and theres not much of a chance of any significant amount of moisture forming inside the case.

Or you could just benchmark inside a meat locker. Then all you have to worry about is that nasty meat smell sticking to the inside of your computer.

Sorry to repost...? Just though some people may be inspired to do the same thing and get some better overclocks...

Condensation is no worries as the ambient room temp was under 15*C

Not to mention I had it setup as a "benchtable" with motherboard tray sitting about 1.5 ft from bottom of window. Believe me I wouldnt jepordize my equipment...

Very inspiring! :) That is the only reason I like winter so much. The cooler temps allow me to run all my pc's without heat worries. :)
