9000 in 3dmark 06? 8800gt 512mb. Help!

Hi all, just built a new system. E4500 cpu , zotac 8800gt 512, 2gb 800mhz ram.

Haven't overclocked anything yet but i'm only getting 9000 in 3dmark 06. Seems low to me looking around here. What you reckon?

Yeah, it's fine. I get 9055 because I do not OC (can't afford taking the risk).

 

well i get 8.7k with my system and don't have a 8800GT or a C2D. it seems low to me or maybe thats just because you haven't overclocked the cpu.

 

e4500 = 2.2 GHz, result is fine.
O/C CPU to 3.0, then u can expect much more

 

06 really loves cpu's, If I put a quad in my comp and o/c it, I'd score 2000 more points.

 

Whats the safest oc on my e4500 with standard cooler?

 

Whatever your cpu is able to tolerate, this depends upon cooling and power, plus the capability of your chip. The best method is to o/c in increments, and testing with an external programme to assess stability.

 

CPU really do make a lot in 06. like my rig, for example, gets 12k in 06.


can you please post the breakdown of you score?

 

I got around 15-16k marks in 3dmark06

 

I only got a 7500... what gives

i get around 15000

 

I get about 9100 points on 3DMark06 w/ Vista Business x64

Thanks for the help fellers. I've oc'd the cpu to 2.6ghz now it runs at 42deg ish idle and gets upto about 67degs during 3dmark. Does that sound safe? Getting 10800 points now.

Sounds like it was a CPU bottleneck after all

 

Updated specs are : Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H mobo, E4500 cpu, Zotac 8800gt 512mb graphics, 2gb 800MHz ram, Antec fusion case with 430w psu. I'll update my sig later.

Do them temps seem ok for the cpu?

I score 12.055 so something is messed up with your system...
