Anyone know which driver stops the black texture issue in Call of duty 4? It doesn't happen all the the time, just certain angles the player Models turn completely black. I'm currently on the 169.21 Omegas.

All of the 169 series stopped it for me. But they have other problems.
    What I didn't try was re-installed cod4.

Hmm weird. I also notice a slight pause in my gameplay, when a lot is going on, yet my Frames are always 100-125 (Capped @ 125). Wonder if it's my 1 year old Raptors in Raid 0 or the 169.xx series.

    I defrag every 4-7days also :S.

ditch the omega's and get the 169.21 WHQL ones. i run these on two comps, one has a single 8800GT, and my sig rig. COD4 runs and looks great on both comps :) good luck ...

I was using the .21 but have stuttering in cod4. I just switch to .28 and still have it. I am not sure what is cause the problem yet. All other games and even FSX is running ok.

Maybe the cod4 1.4 patch screwed the net-code up. Pings are always high since the installing the patch.

Let me know if you solve your problem.

    Hey,

    How bad is your stuttering?

I experience Stuttering as well. Except it happens every 60 seconds or so. Punk buster is set to sleep at 5mins too. Which is weird to cause stuttering.
I haven't upgraded anything except video drivers in the last 2 months.

I wonder if it's the drivers past 169.13.

The stuttering is not to bad but is just enough to be annoying and it's somewhat consistant. As far as PB goes I can't tell if it's doing anything.

What operating system are you using?
I got bad stuttering also on COD4 using older drivers, but i downloaded newest officials from nvidia site and issues are gone :)

What comes to omega drivers, i tried those and they have good performance but i got shadow issues with them in crysis so i removed them.

Try installing newest chipset drivers, nvidia display drivers, make sure that u have DMA ON, Set AGP Aperture size to 128Mt and disable fast writes. Hope that helps :)

Game still stutters :| I tried the following sets.

    169.13
    169.21
    169.21 omega
    169.28
    171.16

All of them cause frequent pauses in both COD4 and BF2 every 30s-180seconds.

    It's not punkbuster either.

If you are running Windows XP then where are the 171.16 drivers?

CoD4 is most likely the culprit.

I have used the 169.21 driver in a 6600gt,6800 gs and my current 7800gs has used the 169.21 whql and the 174.74 beta (all agp cards) and have never got a black screen or any stuttering. It's not CoD4, it's either the drivers your using or possibily a hardware issue.
