Hello, I recently just bought a new pc with 8500GT 512MB (which I didn't know really sux) so now I'm planning to a upgrade video card I'm thinking of getting a XFX 8800GTS 320MB 320bit GDDR3 (PV-T80G-GHD) however after surfing the forum some says that 8800GT performs better? and therefore I found the XFX 8800GT 512MB 256Bit GDDR3 (PV-T88P-YDF) I was wondering which one should I get? Only those two models are available. I'm currently in China as there aren't many version available in the shops here and I'm really confuse about that some 8800GT is higher cost than 8800GTS and some are lower?
The 8800GT is substantially faster than both the 8800GTS 320 and 640mb versions. The 8800GT is the way to go.
So the XFX 8800GT 512MB 256Bit GDDR3 (PV-T88P-YDF) is faster than XFX 8800GTS 320MB 320bit GDDR3 (PV-T80G-GHD) right? because there are many versions of 8800GT that I saw like DDR3 Extreme, DDR3 XXX, etc in http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/listConfigurations.jspa?series=GeForce%26trade%3B+8800&seriesId=730995&productId=1558693 really confusing
8800GT is the only option, get it and dont let any fools discourage you from buying it (however they may or may not be in stock)
Only the xxx is good enough? because they don't have that here in China They only have the normal version XFX 8800GT 512MB 256Bit GDDR3 (PV-T88P-YDF) is there alot of difference between the DDR3 Extreme, DDR3 XXX and the normal one (PV-T88P-YDF)???
No, that was just an expression. There is actually very little difference between the various editions of the 8800GT. No, the various "Extreme", XXX and other "Superclocked" versions are just cards that are sold with pre-overclocked clocks and (sometimes) a different cooler than the "normal" 8800GT. You can buy a standard 8800GT and overclock it manually to achieve the same speed as the boosted versions, it's very easy.
the only difference is that the XXX is factory overclocked just get any of the 8800GT they are all the same reference design and you can use riva tuner to o/c
So that what it means I'm so glad to hear that I'm going to get it tomorrow & hopefully they have stock thanks everyone that helped
Just get the cheapest, basicly all the same card underneath the hood. You could clock a stock up to XXX speeds no probs,,
I just got back from PC shop here they don't have the 8800GT in stock and they will tell me tomorrow if they will be able to order it for me. Should I wait for the 8800GT maybe for 1 week if they have it or just get the 8800GTS 320mb which they do have right now and it's 30 bucks more expensive than the 8800GT
Well I just got the 8800gts 320 about 2 weeks ago. I agree that the 8800gt, if you can find one, is better. However, if you purchase an eVGA card you can step-up to a better card when they come out or become more available. Basically I got the card as a gift and I fully intended pn waiting out the full 90 days and seeing what comes out or I may jump on the g92 based gts.
Unfortunately they don't have evga card in the shop here but I guess we'll see how it goes tomorrow. I hope they do have the 8800GT :smoke:
Then I would wait, if you can. I know it's hard, I personally have zero patience. If, you can wait I have heard that the next few month could be exciting for Nvidia and it would be a shame to throw down a few 100 bucks when in the course of a few weeks there will be the g92 gts, the 256mb gt and rumors are the 8900's by Feb 08 (or sooner). So unless you can return the card or step-up, wait.
