A big loss for Intel enthusiasts too. I fear for the price of my next upgrade, the Nehalem. An even worse prospect is if Nehalem doesnt come out in 2008, little motivation for Intel to roll it out at this point.

This bad for both Intel consumers and Amd consumers. Now Intel is going to worry, so prices stay the same and there really won't be a good alternative.

i'm reading the 2nd and 3rd pages from anandtech's review and it really makes me feel sorry for AMD. I really hope AMD can pull something out of its sleeves to help them come back on top. having no competition is bad for us (consumers).

very bad, common amd lets sort it out, we need u to drive intel prices DOWN and vice versa.

I was hopeing Phenom was gonna be a monster, not that I am bothered from one aspect anyway, because, I have a SUPERB CPU for gaming, any game that requires more than a C2D @ 3.6 is going to be so advanced that once u turn up all the gfx u run into GPU wall anyway.

So I personally am more waiting for the latest GPU series, I wanna turn up some more AA in COD4 :D

    grrrrr

    boo hoo

You mean the processor that isnt out, and the current 3.0ghz one that costs $1300+ with no availability?

amd sucks guys, just get used to it, they cant really compete with intel, if intel didnt slack off years ago they never would have with the athlon chips to begin with. amd just doesnt have the real hard cash and resources to trounce a comapny like intel.

No pressure on them to release it, is there? The Q6600 has been out for a year and is sufficient to keep the new Phenoms under its boot. :p

I'm sorry, what exactly is my response to these supposed to be?

"Oh man, I'd better use intel, because if I use AMD, I'll only get 150 frames per second?"

    WTF?

to behonest there is so little difference in performance i say just go wtih who you prefer. So intel fans can buy an intel chip like wise for amd fans and then everyone is happy.

i thought i was just being real?
guess no one likes the truth. not saying they make bad processors, just saying they dont have intel's money and resources, their roadmap isnt looking very competitive in the high end.

maybe nvidia will start making cpu's after amd dies ;0

its not that there is little difference in performance. its the fact you have amd's 2008 technology not able to compete with intels 2007 technology. its just a shame that they couldnt make a better performer. dont get me wrong the prices are good for what they are but everyone likes some competition
