well imo though i'm no airflow master.
You have a good setup but put a 80mm in the top and use a slot fan pointed down in the bottom to keep that area from becoming pocket of heat.

you just want as much air blown onto the GPU as possible. You can let physics handle the rest for you.

what do you mean by put the 80mm fan in the top and what is slot fan?

sry i am new at this but as u said i dont want that area from pocket of heat so isnt the 80mm fan take the heat out is best way to go?

He means cut a hole in the case's top side and put an exhaust fan in the hole to pump out the hot air that rises inside the case.

A slot fan looks like this:

    How to push it more?
    It is safe right?
    I don´t see any artifacts

I had to reduce overclok to get down it down to 73c load on ati tool! It was getting so hot about 80c !

I have + 2 in bios & an intel cooler running on it!
Riva tuner fan speed at 80%

    FUll load - overcloked

Thx a lot chispy, you are the true owner, obviously You have a good economy, Will be nice to share your gaming room!

What are average temps for load?
I don´t want the card slowing down in games to cool down.

Should I reduce bios voltage, and try to push it with +1?
Atm i can push it up to 680 core 1050 memory with bios overvolt +2 , but it gets hot (80c)with ati tool!
Is ati tool reliable? Or dois it warm the card too much?

THX a lot for your time!

I have a Zotac 8800GT amp edition (comes overclocked out the box)
    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?ZOT-88GT5A
Idle im at 43c right now
Not really tried it full load but playing Oblivion all maxed and 1280x1024 i never get above 56/58c.
Not in the know about bench testing ect.

I have a slot fan under the card and a 120mm fan blowing across the card.
Ive also modded my case before it had a big plastic window on the side Ive removed that and added mesh to keep it cool.

To add i have the fan speed on my card at 60%

After many mods I bought a real gpu cooler Thermalright H03 Plus

Themps are now under 65 on full load, Im testing stable overclocks now, but my screan goes black playing race driver grid I don´t see any artifacts

648 - 1512 - 2000 Can I push the shader and reduce memory and core?

Some pics of the mods i tryed

Can anyone please give me a link so I can apply Artic Silver 5 to my GPU core? I've never applied AC5 to my card before but I would like to do so. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using Evga precision tool and it has the shader clock linked with the core. Is it good to keep it linked when overclocking the GPU? What's the point of keeping them linked?

Meh, I've done several of these fellas. When it comes to the 8800GTS and GTX/Ultra NOTHING beats the Arctic Xtreme 8800 (air wise). That's really my tip.

    my system

ok here we go this is my baby i have tried to keep all photo small for faster loading no mods as of yet but just showing what a diff ajusting the fan on the gpu can do btw no overclocking here

here is my case and setup
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

here is my psu it is an oryxx hercules 750watt
from left to right 80mm front psu fan right 120 bottom psu fan
    [IMG] [IMG]
here are the rest of my fans and set up
    [IMG]
as you can see i have the front and rear 80mm fans installed

ok now for the idle and load temps and the bench marks
here are the temps from left to right room temp is 21c the first is the idel temp auto fan control the next is after 3dmark06 benchmark the last oneis the results if any one cares lol
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

this set of temps is the fan set to 100%
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
as you can see card running colder made do diff to the bench mark
now for the mod idea i so this
    [IMG]
i thoght why not leave the plastic cover on but mount the fans the same that would allow double the air flow past the heat sink that's idea one my other idea drop the stock fan hot glue the turbo fan to the plasting casing of the 8800
and point it to the front of the case then run a peace of duct to the front panel this would draw cold air in ram it past the heatsing and out the back but also tape off the stupid slots on the inside that are on the 8800 that are really a bad idea they should of fitted a better fan in the first place but noise ant a prob i wear headphones lol let me know what you think and i will post pics when i get the torbo fan and job is done

ps after takeing these photos i stripped the hole system and cleaned it and replaced all heatsink past temp about the same odd dagree here and there to add another note the side panel is always on and was only removed for the pics

    I couldnt agree more.My temps on 8800gtx s/c went from 80c+ under load to 55c tops,with fans at 75%,idels at 40c.
Best $50. ive spent in awhile.

I removed the cover of my 8800GT left the stock fan on and added a fan on the heatsink blowing towards and I have put to fans at the back blowing towards the back of the card. my idle temp is about 43C and about 59/60C load.
