Colt can you please calm down. Your being too aggressive toward the others in this post.

The only thing tucson did was post (eVGA Confirms the "Revamped" GTS 640 was released today ) and show the new models. You acted out first which would make most people defensive.

If it 96 or 112 it no big deal.

Not all that big of an increase. It's more a marketing hype than anything else. Sure it's a lower 45um and 16 shader increase. But overall, it's the same card whit higher clock speed.

I will buy a second 8800gts320 used for 150$, or less, and will pwn most system outhere.

Will you all, or mostly, buy this new serie of cards?

Lake Forest, IL – (October 29, 2007) – BFG Technologies®, Inc., the leading North American and European NVIDIA supplier of advanced 3D graphics cards, motherboards, power supplies and other PC enthusiast products, announced today the BFG NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GTS OC 640MB Extreme Edition PCI Express™ graphics card for a suggested retail price of $499 USD.

“By increasing the number of Stream Processors from 96 to 112 on our award winning BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB graphics card,” said Dean Brady, Sr. Director of marketing at BFG Technologies, “we are able to give our new Extreme Edition an additional performance boost that our customers have come to expect from BFG.”

The BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS EE OC 640MB is available exclusively at CompUSA.

BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS EE OC 640MB:

Core Clock: 565MHz vs. standard 500MHz
Shader Clock: 1300MHz vs. standard 1200MHz
Memory Clock: 1700MHz vs. standard 1600MHz

If BFG is doing it then I would assume eVGA is as well. No word from XFX

    So you have:

    BFG
    Core-565mhz
    Shader-1300mhz
    Mem.-1700mhz

    eVGA
    Core-576mhz
    Shader-1350mhz
    Mem.-1800mhz

Well have to just wait and see.

If it does hold true the the only differnce will be clock speed, and 320-bit controller vs the 256-bit.

Seems like the only reason to buy that card is for someone gaming at Ultra high res. Might help alittle in Crysis too. But if you want to play that game maxed out you might as well wait till the next gen. card comes out

    GT-SSC:
    Core-700mhz
    Shader-1750mhz
    Mem.-2000mhz
    Price-$290

    GTS-SSC:
    Core-576mhz
    Shader-1350mhz
    Mem.-1800mhz
    Price-$500

    I'd stay with the GT:rock:

Where does it say that it is based on the G92 core though? And if it was with the new core, wouldn't we hear about it everywhere?

Well, $500, it would probably be even better to run 2 x 8800GT in SLI on a 680i mobo, as our friend, Hilbert did in his review.

does anyone know if all 8800GT's have 112 stream processors or just the new 8800gts????? because on overclockers.co.uk they have the 8800gt with 112 stream processors on pre-order

Well, it's said that if you put two 8800GT cards in SLI, if done correctly, you will have something cheaper, yet better than a single Ultra card, believe it or not. It's a great card to have more than one of, if you have a 680i mobo, at the very least...

Cool, cheers guys( i no longer have the luxury of chilling out checking such stuff out at home at the mo )
Those current 8800GT's look absolutely fantastic. I really wonder what these new replacements for the 8800gts 640mb card are going to bring to the part? tbh i definately thing the 512mb 8800gt is sufficient for most things at the moment, hell even in SLI they are good value

Arrgghhhh, im just dying to click on "Buy" for a 8800GT lol

lmimmfn I fought the temptation all day yesterday until I finally decided to get it. After reading the reviews and seeing how well it performs for such a low price I had to get it. Plus I just bought my 24" BenQ (1920x1200 native) and my 7900GT just couldn't handle it anymore. Not to mention I can step up to the new 8800GTS if it is worth it or if the G98 shows it's face in the next 90 days.

Some review quotes on the 8800GT:

nVidia seems to be keeping things on the downlow concerning the GTS line. I have no idea why unless it's to keep the spotlight on the GT.

There was mention over at the hardforum that they may get a hold of the GTS with upped 112pipes. It would be interesting to see if it uses a G80 or G92 (but looking at the reference board of the GTS, it looks like a G80).

Upping the pipes to 112 like the GT, the new GTS will still have the advantage of the 320bit bandwidth and the extra 128MB of memory for textures. Whether or not this brings real-world performance remains to be seen.

What's lacking from the GTS is the HD-PureVideo2 processing (if you want to run HD dvd) and PCI-E 2.0 (which doesn't seem to matter).

Whether or not there is ANOTHER new G92 GTS for a mid-late november release remains to be seen. Guess only time will tell!
