probably the reason you saw no difference is because that setting seems to be more related to dual-processor computers, not Dual-Core CPU's.

Actually its something like the view you have through a portal being rendered ingame. At least thats what it looks like to me. When it happens in the game it goes too fast to even make anything out of it, you just have a screen filled with moving white lines. Very anoying.
I dont think its vista related either because i tried XP and i have the same problem.
I just hope its not my card :p

This game rocks. For some reason the game has crashed twice not sure what the problem could be. Currently using beta driver 163.75 Windows XP 32-bit. Got this game running at 1280 X 1024 16AA/16AF yay!

Good to know i'm not the only one...
I think it must be a bug with geforce 8800 cards or something, I just hope they fix it soon. I really want to play but not like this.
I just deleted steam totally and now am downloading it again (for third time)
if this still doesnt fix the issue im not gonna try again untill the next update. If it does fix it I'll let you know.

I love Portal, EP2 and TF2. They all play silky smooth all maxed out. Very pleased with the performance so far.

    @ Luvabud

It appears to have worked, i dont have any artifacts anymore!
Just completely uninstall steam, also manually delete all the files in Program Files (at least thats what I did) Then download again (i installed Portal first this time)
    Hope it helps.

Hmm, I take back what I said.

The light takes off 10fps, but when I first ran the game just to piss around for 2 minutes, it was running at 30fps anyway.

I get higher fps's in the rest of the game.

I've got the same issues with the textures too, except when i load up the higher textures they don't actually improve but stay at middle or low... When I reload the game it always goes back to medium. The weird part is that with portal when I loaded the higher textures they would load and it looked fine but with hl2ep2 the better textures won't even come up. I don't really want to reinstall any other thoughts?

Seems they've decided to not release it here.
