    First off thanks for your hard work Unwinder, much appreciated:)

    Right I'm having a bit of battle with these latest Rivatuners 204 and 205. For some reason the Fan tab is missing and monitoring reports 0 for both core and memory, with fan speed stuck at about 60%. This makes about a 10 degree difference in temps from 100%.

    Have spent quite a few hours trying all sorts of things to get rid of the problem. Drivers 163.67 - 163.71 with proper uninstallation (DC cleaner, Registry cleans etc). I've re-installed a previous bios on my motherboard, to see if that was the cause. No joy at all.

    If I install Rivatuner 2.0 then Fan tabs are back up and monitoring is working as normal. Obviously no shader clock options:(.

    This problem may in part be due to a change in motherboard. I've had the P5K deluxe for just over a week. A DFI-P35 T2R prior to that. On the DFI I was running 204 with shaderclock overclocks just fine. Made a real difference to 3d mark benches.

    I've installed Battlefield 2142, but without punkbuster. No processes stick out in the Task manager that I can see. I've checked services and likewise nothing out of the norm.

    Looking at the unwinder registry keys you can clearly see the difference. A lot of entries including the 'Fan' keys are missing in the 2.05 reg.

    Well talk about taking the scenic route. Whilst I'll confess to being out of my depth, I was chuffed to come up with the regfix below. It took changing the 'ProtectMMIO' key to 0 to discover the solution.

    Translated, install Rivatuner 205 with 'Protect memory IO map' Unchecked.:smack:

    I've got to add, prior to this I had tried installing and cancelling the update section during install, but this ProtectMMIO must default to 1.

    It means that you've completely lost all low-level hardware access due to old IO driver version usage. If you're migrating from RT 2.02 or older to 2.03 or newer (having protected MMIO), previous RT version and IO driver must be uninstalled from the system. If you'll try to run 2.03 or newer without doing that, you'll loose low-level functionality completely (old IO driver lack protected MMIO IOCTLs, used by new version by default).

    Workarounds:

    - proper old version cleanup before installing 2.03 and newer.
    - disabling MMIO protection (in this case old driver can still be used).

    So when I've un-installed Rivatuner in my many attempts, I've un-installed it. Then in safe mode I've run a registry cleaner, which has picked up on various rivatuner entries. including an unwinder entry. This is why I looked for unwinder in the registry in the first place.

    I then install the newer rivatuner, and have problems.

    So I need to uninstall an IO driver as well is that right? Is this a separate process to the Rivatuner uninstall? Where do I find it?

    IO driver uninstallation is a part of RT uninstall process. If it hard for you to do that of if there is some application in your system disliking the protection- just don't use protected MMIO mode. And no, IO driver is NOT located in HKLM\Software\Unwinder entry. It never was there and never will.

    Guys, PLEASE let me breathe. My patience is close to zero, I cannot daily answer hundreeds of questions constantly asked by new RT users who were attracted by new shader clock functionality of 2.04 and 2.05 versions. I cannot longer continue explaining overclocking and software installation basics, sorry.
    I damn myself for adding shader clock control functionality to RT because it drastically increased amount of questions from beginners here. And I definitively cannot spend so many time in the forum. So I stop support completely for a few months and take a vacation.
    I'll still browse the forums periodically, but I won't respond to any questions which can be answered by somebody besides me. My hobby is developing RT, not teaching you how to use it.

    Thank you for another version of RT.

    I can understand your point of view,for me as a reader its a bit annoying too.
    I like to think that this site(not only this section) is for advanced users and I(we?) expect some research before posting a question and when a question is posted please post what you already did to solve your problem so we dont give answers what you already tried and it makes it easier for us to pinpoint the exact problem.

    Whilst I can appreciate a lack of patience for lazy posters, as evident from my post, I spent a good amount of time trying to solve my particular problem.

    Not only that, but in the end I solved it myself, and in addition posted the solution.

    Guys, don't take it personal please. The problem is in me and in my limited time, not in you. There are just too many of you and too many questions, which I physically cannot continue answering dayly and nightly. I cannot spend whole my life here troubleshooting each single user's issues.
    I was just trying to find any reason to explain my wife why I was spending the next weekend explaining next user how to solve his problem, and I completely fail to find it.

    Likewise have a family and really need to find that OFF switch. I mean for the computer not the family.

    Update. Finally found out why I was having problems installing rivatuner 2.0 with the Protect memory IO mode enabled.

    I was setting up a ramdisk today for some superpi32m runs. I went to set maxmem to 600 in the bootini, and found that it was already set from some previous runs a few days ago. Basically I'd forgot to change it back to default of 2048.

    Whilst trying to configure the ramdisk, on a few restarts my Graphics card failed to start Error Code 10. A good indication that these memory tweak were affecting the graphics card.

    Just re-installed rivatuner 2.05 now, with maxmem back to default and with Protect memory IO enabled, and all good:D

    Glad to of cleared that up finally:)

    That sounds logical. The difference between using enabled and disabled protected MMIO is a location of MMIO aperture. When MMIO protection is disabled aperture is located in user address space (2GB of user address space is available for each application). When MMIO protection is enabled MMIO aperture is located in kernel address space, which is much more limited and shared between all drivers.

    Can someone help me with this:
    I can't get rivatuner 2.05 to work with 163.71.

    I have a XFX 8800 GTX card and vista 64bit. When I run rivatuner I get following messages:
    1, windows is demanding a digital signed driver
    2, can't load Rivatuner64.sys driver (but its where it's supposed to)
    3, driver signing enforcement must be disabled in order to start rivatuner under vista 64bit.

    When I reboot the system I get the same message. Am I doin something wrong?

    Yeah go ahead and take a break, focus on RT not on forum tech support, because noone can code RT besides you while I'm sure there are plenty of ppl here that know how things work and don't mind helping answering questions.

    163.75 vista 32bit working just fine too with RT 2.05, just since 163.74 i cant seems to see change when overclocking card and at same time i watching hardware monitoring how clocks changes for a few seconds how it does previously with 163.71, in 3D clocks works, so its not that important, but you loose idea how much gpu/shader/mem clocks are exactly set before you go into 3D mode.

    Either use the search in the forum or goto rivatuner download page, you have there the current official plugins:

    * Download Core 2 Duo Temp plugin
    * Download SoftQuadro

    Spajdrik: maybe stop installing unofficial "drivers" next time. Overclocking shows the usual behaviour for me, I moved from 163.71 to .75.

    (Side note: the unofficial 163.74 set introduced serious performance cuts in several games)
