It's gonna set me back about $2500. I am not fussed about the fact that the vid card is DX 9. I understand it's the fastest mobile card out there. The CPU is not too shabby either.

Yeah but, by the time DX 10 games are mainstream, I will be looking at upgrading again. I am not sure but it might be MXM config, where you can upgrade the vid card.

If it indeed is, then fine. Generally though, laptops have longer useful lifespans than desktop systems, so even if you're saying you'll just upgrade again later by buying another laptop, $2500 is a lot to spend on an "upgrade" in one shot.

HA! :O Actually I blew $3400 on the Sager laptop in my specs! That was 3 years ago though. I don't consider $2500 a huge amount of cash.

EDIT: Actually they make a higher end gaming rig than that (SLI/Quad core extreme and all that happy horse****) but I can't justify the cost given the DX 9 nature of current vid cards.

For $3800 you could get an extremely overpriced Alienware with dual 512MB 7950GTXs and 4GB of ram....I think that would last a long time....

Look at this one from SAGER. It actually uses a Dekstop C2D CPU

If not that laptop is quite good that you selected.

Thanks Scoutingwrath. Yes indeedly I worked the options on that BEAST of a laptop you mention. Had to poo poo it though because the config I wanted with that model was gonna run me over $4000. But I am here to tell you, fully optioned out that is the ants pants though.

So I am shooting for the downscaled laptop in my OP.

Fischju, yeah I looked at Alienware and drool, but they are overpriced for what you get IMHO.
