I'm using this also. Your temp is very normal. Mine runs close to 95C under load. Fan will automatically run faster if your temp rises. This card is cheap but too bad it only comes with 256MB memory.

With the default fan speeds, mine runs 88 Deg C max. However, I've tweaked the settings to make the fan increase its speed sooner under load. Under default settings it never runs above 50%. At that speed, the card cools off under load. Now I make it run at 50% at a lower temperature.

I just bought the Sapphire X1950XT 256MB for 220$ CAN, incredible performance for the price. BUT Im having a big driver problem. In fact the only drivers that worked are the one that shipped on the retail CD from sapphire (7.1). I tried the 7.8 directly from ATI website and I got error msgs.
Anyone have sucessfully installed Omega, NGO or simply newer drivers on his card??

had driver issue with my sapphire X1950XT

atitool and ati tray tool where causing the problem. i have uninstall them and the Cat driver ran driver cleaner and reinstall the driver with rive tunner and it work perfectly

OC mine to 675/2000 with BF2 maxed out and ?Xaa activated in games i get 50FPS min all the time. avg fps is around 80fps

its a nice card for the price

    mine with fan @ 60% im running @ 68-72°C with a 19°C room temp.

just a quick question. im displaying the temp/clocks with riva tunner while im gaming. can the card downclock or thrutle down itseft @ 70°C???

Try the 7.7 drivers as the 7.8 have issues, I have them installed but the only way they run correctly is to set bpp to 16 instead of 32. At 32 desktop icons disappear and colors look washed. It also takes a reinstall on top as in install 7.8 then reinstall 7.8 for them to take, at least it did with me.

    256 or 512 version bud?

Same here Decane. I can play so called Dx10 games like COH on full smooth as so I see no point in upgrading yet. That would be a waste of cash. :smoke:

You'd had be daft to choose the GTS over the XT, but only if money allows. Here in NZ the XT costs twice as much as the GTS, I had two X1950Pro fail on me in succession, so I defected to Nvidia and am not regretting it at all.

3DMark06 gets me 5800 (I could go more if I fiddled a bit more too)
    HL2, 1280x1024, full detail, all reflections, 8xAF and 4x AA 100-200FPS
rFactor 1280x1024, full detail, 8xAF and 4xAA 60-150FPS depending on mod and track
Played Lost Planet Demo last night too, was at 1280x960, I think most stuff was maxed, but I do remember something at medium, can't remember what tho, and I got between 30-60FPS.

For 50% of the price I am pleased with the results, and I would bet the GTS would be close to the XT (beats the Pro) at 1280x1024, but it does lose out as the resolution increases.

Peculiar how some of you sound amazed at how smooth the XT is at 1280x1024, I would be surprised if it wasn't.

the first was an HIS AGP, worked ok but didn't like being pushed, and I suspect was a bit finicky with my 939 Nforce 3 board, so I took the plunge and changed to AM2, got a PCI-E MSI X1950Pro, and it seemed ok the first night, but then it started crashing occassionally, then all the time, I figured I can't have had two failed cards in a row so I swapped out motherboard and RAM, but it still crashed, RMAed it when I was sure the card was at fault.

Just bloody unlucky I guess. But I don't feel like I've lost out, so I'm happy about it, just very weary of X1950 Pros.

yeah, I think it didn't like the Nforce3 250, after hunting high and low I found there seemed to be a few guys with X1950 AGP on Nforce 3 250GB that were having the same issue.

I noticed your PSU is 400w. What's the 12v amp rails on that psu?
