ive just had 2x 8800 gtx cards fitted into a Asus AN8 SLI m/b Ive just noticed on asus home page the following = Expansion Slots 2 x PCI-E x16 - SLI mode: x8, x8 - Default (single VGA): x16, x1 1 * PCI-E x 1/ 1*PCI-E x 4(x2 mode) 3 x PCI so SLI is running at x8 ?....is this what is causing my future mark to come back with 8275 instead of around 12000/13000 ? .
1000 w ive put the sli indicaters on so i can see that both cards are being used by watching the levels going up and down on the left of the screen i have a amd FX57 pro fitted my friend has exactly the same system set up but with a FX60 and he gets 8775 WITH A SINGLE CARD..as the pro is about 8% faster than mine a single card would come out with around 8100 i would have thought(thats what im getting)
i would say it probably because the scores your comparing to are done with Dual Cores that are way more ballzie than an old FX57
nope see my edit on my post above your post if there only getting x8 instead of x16 wouldnt that half there power
My spare pc has the A8N-SLI Deluxe and the SLI performance with the 8800GTX was not exactly smoking. I think it was my X2 4400 dragging the performance down I will benchmark 3dmark 06 on my new pc (in my sig) with the same 8800GTXs and see if there is much of a performance boost
my friends comp and mine are from MESH and the only diff is the proc which in mine is the FX57 and his the FX60 and his m/b which is a an8/32 SLI which gives him x16 in SLI were mine gives me only x8 in SLI HIS FUTUREMARK 06 is aroind 8750. with 1 card.....mine with 2 cards is 8100 p.s. the card that was in there before the upgrade was 2x7800 GTX and they scored 6275 on furure mark
well.. from what you have.. there is a major bottleneck (being CPU Mem Chipset and Bus) so ill just say im not surprised dont rly know what you can do (besides getting a new machine) to increase you score to what you want
as ive already posted ...the score on a single card is what i should have got...as my friends machine is exat same except for FX60 and AN832 SLI M/B and he got 8750 approx...so it led me to beleave te x8 SLI supposrt on my M/B ...if yoyu look at future,ark 06 scores for simler spec there around 8000/9500 for single cards if im reading right
Dude, you have a single core cpu. The fx57 IS a single core cpu while the fx60 your friend has is a dual core cpu. 3dmark06 benefits a lot from dual core and that's why you get such "low" scores. That's the problem and nothing else. If you want a solution for it, buy a dual core cpu
first of all, you will not see that large a performance loss from 16x to 8x. There is plenty of bandwidth over 8x as most of the "cross talk" goes over the connector bridge (someone correct me if I'm wrong)... are you forcing vsync in your driver? Have you done a good uninstall and cleaning of your old drivers? Did you reinstall windows? Have you tried to determine if actual games see an increase in fps? Relying on 3dmark is not really advisable. Edit: poster above is also correct. You will get points in 3dmark JUST because you have a dual core, and has nothing to do with processing power. It just gives you points just because you have a dual core.
its a clean install no forcing of vsync only driver installed after format was latest 162.18 certified frames rates in games ive never really looked at but i can put all settings to max on games like oblivion/two worlds/bioshock...with the other cards 7800GTXs i could not have done that i thought the FX57 was a duel core but i see i was mistaken .

8x SLI vs. 16x SLI? They tested it here. Not much of an improvement. http://www.tbreak.com/reviews/article.php?cat=mobos&id=436&pagenumber=1 It's an older test. I remember reading some review on a newer test using the asus' boards, but the results were pretty much the same. The A8n-32 (16x) beat out the A8n deluxe (8x) by only a couple of framerates in a couple games. Nothing really to write home about or even consider upgrading if you already have a A8N. The A8N-32 are going for around $100 on ebay. A better upgrade would to buy a dual-core 939 CPU for under $90.
Why would you think it just throws points at you because you have a dual core? You get more points because you can render the cpu tests faster. WTF?
i had forgoten that a FX 57 is a single core CPU. thats the reason for your low score in 06. run 3dmark05 and let me know what you get.
ive just disabled the SLI mode in the driver and the result was 7477...so with the other card im getting an extra 500/600 points :behead: p.s.Burnt_Ram ill down load that and post
