    My brother ran an overclocked 5900XT for a good while and it was pretty decent. Not too far behind a 6600GT and his 6600GT played Command and Conquer 3 on 1024X768 and med-high settings. The 5900 series cards were okay if heavily overclocked and equipped with a decent CPU. It was important to find a good driver set for consitent performance. Which by the way I hope you weren't running the latest from Nvidia with that card because if so, that's going to cause a serious performance hit.

    I tried the new drivers but had to go back to the 93.71 drivers, even those were messed up. I think it was the Command and Conquer patch too....

    I ordered the 7950GT but now I have another question... Am I going to need a new power supply? My computer is an HP a6130n pavilion desktop, I have not been able to find what watt power supply it comes with... I know the 7950 states it needs a 350W power supply. Anyone know how I can check if my power supply is good enough. Does it say it on the PSU? I have replaced ram and graphics cards, but am totally unfamiliar with power supplies. Please help so I know if I gotta order one soon....Thanks in advance!

    Was looking at this one but I don't know what kind (ATX, etc) I need.

    That PSU is decent. It has 18A on the 12V rail which I believe will be suffciient for the 7950GT. As far as checking your PSU, there should be a label on the side with the detailed specifications. You're looking for max power of course but also the +12V and how many amps it carries.

    Well, 256MB cards sometimes do produce better benchmarks & fps than the 512MB cards because of latency issues with the larger memory modules on the 512 cards. The extra memory will help especially if you want to play at your monitors native resolution on max settings.

    My rig is a prime example of that issue - I have plenty of GPU power but only 256MB of v-ram. Even at 1280 x 1024 resolution, I can't max out games like Oblivion & Stalker to ultra high settings - I have to settle for default high settings because of the lack of vram.

    It's no big deal really and your games will still look and play nicely but the 512MB card would be much more future proof for up-coming game titles. Assuming The new DX10 titles (even when played in DX9) mode will most likely be very memory/shader intensive and do much better with 512MB vram.

    Looking at the specs on the card it states:

    A 350W PCI Express compliant system power supply (with 12V current rating of 22A or more)

    The supply I was lookig at , however, reads:

    Output= +3.3V@20A, +5V@30A, +12V@18A, -5V@0.5A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@2A

    Does that 12v@18A mean it only puts out 18 amps with full 12 volt power. I was looking at a couple power supplies and none of them state anything over 18A Will these supplies now even run the card??

    Anyone with 7950GT's also please chime in.
