It can speed up FPS with regards to your hard drive not spinning all the time. No one should be running games in XP, and especially Vista, on just 1gb of ram. It's a sin. LOL.

And yes, your cpu is holding you back some...but mainly if it's at stock speeds. It would be a noticeable boost in performance if your cpu has a good oc.

In games like the new aging BF2, without 2gb of ram you couldnt normally play it on max because it just used so much ram.

Are you using the Bioshock drivers, they are suppose to fix locks up when using SLI.

Use XP. Better performance, use of AA, and none of that crap. :)

I have the same issue of it locking up during the loading for a new game. The only way around it that I know if is to use the -dx9 tag as turning off the DX10 effects is apparently not enough. Still, I'd love to play it in DX10 mode. I really wish I knew what the problem was that way I could fix it in another way.

As of this point in time, there's no real reason to play it under Vista. The apparent visual differences are almost imperceptible and the ability to use AA, along with increased performance, currently make DX9 under XP far more preferable.

Of course, things could change with future driver and game updates, but that's where things stand right now.

I would prefer not to have to boot into another operating system in order to play a single game quite frankly. Having used Vista so much lately going back to XP seems rather alien and I miss the way Vista works. So, while I do have XP installed I don't care much for using it.

As for AA and Bioshock, I'm not really bothered like I thought I would be by jaggies. For me that's pretty pointless for this game as it looks fairly clean-lined as is on my monitor.

To each their own brother. :) However, I'm having a 65" 1080p TV delivered on Friday and I think that the ability to reduce AA may significantly improve my experience when I hook my PC up to it.

Until there is a game released that absolutely requires DX10 to enjoy, I'm avoiding Vista like the plague. But, that is merely my personal opinion so take it as such.
