Thanks for all the ideas!!! I experiment some more with the rivaturner, trying that you said, to find the right thresholds.
~US$20 including SH from Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835114024 about the cost of 2 decent fans without ghetto modding involved. The thing also has a 3-speed fan controller built in it seems.
People don't be mistaken this fan is not an exhaust fan its actually intake. So back fan intakes air for the front fan to blow on where i direct it.
i disagree, unless someone has re-engineered the blower fan to be able to work in reverse, and i doubt that... its just not possible macdaddy.
http://www.azenx.com/BTSC70BBL.html With graphics cards becoming more powerful, and creating more heat, keeping your system cool and extending the life of your graphics card, as well as all other components is a real must. AzenX has invented an amazing multipurpose--"BLITZTORM System Slot Cooler". This cooler does not merely keep your graphics card 5° to 20° cooler, but as it is designed with a unique 180° rotating fan and a powerful dual side blower, it will keep your whole system cool. This special combination of Tilt To Any Angle fan and Dual Side Expel blower, provides you with the best Airsos air circulation system ever designed. Its capability to lower temperature in different areas of the entire system is 10-50% better than other products in the market. It has variable air circulation speeds to adjust, and operation is remarkably quiet. A built-in red LED brightens up the AzenX for your ultimate cooling inspiration! expel = blow air out if you still don't believe, you can read the reviews on newegg or this below: http://www.pcabusers.com/reviews/blitztorm/p1.htm
read into it a little more, it stated double intake blower, meaning the top and bottom of the blower as intake, and one exhaust being the grill leading to the outside of the case. i am not wrong, the design of a blower fan, whatever way it spins will throw the air out the slot on the back.. its just the way its designed m8. centrifugal force at its best, unless you want to start disagreeing with the law of physics now ?
Dont know if its been mentioned (I dont want to go thru whole thread to find out, but in XP temps go down about 5c due to being in 2d mode. In Vista with Aero, its in 3d all the time, thats why temps are higher. Switch to Basic theme and it will go down about 5c.
I do believe that had been mentioned, but no harm in saying it again I'm sure! For users in UK the Azenx/Blitzstorm is also available here (Aerocool version is not) and for once we actually seem to get the best deal @ £5.99. ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Azen-Blitzstorm/dp/B000JXSQ0O/ref=pd_sbs_ce_1/202-3849509-6026241 ) As others have pointed out, the fan nearest the grill can only exhaust air by nature of its type regardless of what the specs may or may not say. This does look like the best solution at 1 slot and varispeed. I'm currently experimenting with the spare intel fan tied to expansion bays exhausing air from under the 8800 where it clearly is hottest. At 60% duty this reduces temps by around 5-10C (higher speeds make no difference) & keeps system very quiet. Therefore theoretically a neat 1 slot exhaust under the card should do exactly the same without being so impractical. Think I'll buy one and see for the silly price!
mmm.. cant find a european reseller for this Azen blitztorm product. What about this one.. http://www.pccasegear.com/prod4208.htm Can't seem to find a european reseller here either.

Really? Where are you looking? I see: "Delivery Restrictions: This item can only be delivered within the UK" and under seller shipping details only prices for UK.
