    Hi people.

Recently I bought an Expert Vision 7900GS installed a Zalman VF-900Cu and started overclocking.

Sadly i got disappointed, I cant do any decent overclock

    Stock frequencies: 450/660
    MAx overclock: 595/670 :leave:

this is really low overclock especially for the memories, and I cant understand why.

I find people with the same graphic card getting higher clocks...

    Tried:
    Different drivers
    verified the PSU

the same results over and over...

Any ideias? is it possible that the bios is limiting the clocks? if so wast can I do?

    My system is the following:

hmm...just a guess, it might be the timings that are limiting the memory clock. otherwise, you've hit the wall.

if you really want to push that further, voltmod it.

Just remember not all the cards overclocks the same.

It's been mentioned, if you're stable at that, and going higher doesnt yield artifacts, just instability, you'll need to volt mod it. Card just wants more juice.

With that Zalman on it you'll have no trouble with temps if you voltmod the core and pencil mod the memory ;) Cards come with different voltages to their gpu and memory. For example, alot of the 'xtreme' cards can be overclocked higher than their base models, because they have been given more juice. The 7900gs voltmod is rather easy so you might as well put that Zalman to good use :)

Try this, I just bought a EVGA 7900GS KO it is the over clocked version. This card started @ GPU 500 and memory @ 690.I started to manually overclock card and got to 615/730 then it would fail on test.Just to see what optimal frequencies were I let the control panel do it on its own.It raised it to 607/812 and raised mark05 results by 1k try letting the control panel detect frequencies

The Nvidia control panel detects even lower frequencies, I been searching around and I think its the timings.

going further then this doesn't give me instability just artifacts (in the memories)

I wanted to change the timings altering the BIOS just not quite sure how

    this are the current timings:

just don't know if I will get more performance increasing the timings and the clock.

by the way the memory chips are the following Samsung 631 k4j553230g-bc14 supposedly the same that XFX XXX 7900GT uses.

does any one have this card? wanted to know the timings on this card.

I could only hit 560 on the core before volt mods, so that is pretty normal.

Here is the 1.55V volt mod on my 7900GT:

you can clean it off and no one can prove it was done

Recently I was able to exchange my 7900Gs by another one exactly identical (same lot also)

And surprise .... this baby can go -->

    Core - 630Mhz
    Memory - 810Mhz (1620 Mhz)

Its a huge difference, I always knew that equal components don't overclock the same, I just never thought It could be such a huge difference

In Ati tool It takes about 10 minutes to find artifacts, I think its ok, the temps are fine :) and the artifacts are not visible

    Some luck finally :)
