I discovered almost a week or two ago that almost all my devices that required usb just suddenly stopped working. Today i was trying to figure out why my ipod would not connect to the computer to put songs on to it and one of the solutions was to go to device manager and find Universal Serial Bus and do something that involved power management or something. Well when i got to the list Universal serial bus was not in the list....

    can anyone help?

the usb ports are built into the mother board and it cant be that there unlplugged because when the comp is starting up the usb stuff works but once it gets to select a operating system it goes away

I've been having the same problem, I've checked the motherboard connections, they're fine. Funny thing, the usb connectors on the back of my pc case work, so I have to stretch to the back of my pc to plug in my iPod, at least that works. Some links were slightly useful, type "usb devices not recognized" into google. I'm yet to resolve this problem.
