    there is an improvment
    read my post above.

    maybe its only with 8800 cards i dont know but this is the first driver in a long time that really make a diffrence in performance.
    from 52 to 65 FPS in R6 Vegas isnt something you let pass :)
    we talking about 20-25% performance boost here

    I saw a definite improvement in Oblivion, a lot less choppy than previous vista drivers, almost as smoth as the XP ones.. getting there..

    I would still like to see a stable, permanent way to manage fans, speeds, profiles etc...

    Especially fans:( still it's keeping me feet warm

    What the...? Look at my info, i got double DLL's and control panel is not same version. I uninstalled many times including safe mode and still got same version dll's. Is it supposed to be like this with 8800GTX? Can someone post hes nvidia info.

    yes! i got it

    How to Enable the old Control panel and to get the refresh rate overrides back in action.

    set the values like this
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies]
    "ContextUIPolicy"=dword:00000001
    "TaskbarUIPolicy"=dword:00000002
    "CplGroupUIPolicy"=dword:00000003
    "SedonaDisable"=dword:00000000

    if you dont have the Dword "SedonaDisable" just add that Dword under Policies.

    now we have a keeper! :)

    CTD with BF2142 on Vista 64 w/8800GTS

    The title says it all.

    Went back to 101.41 and everything is fine again.

    No issues here with these. Old control panel and refresh rates are fine using NvTray\tweak, no need for doing what previous post mentions at all.

    Image quality is excellent and very stable for me. Keepers for sure

    When I uninstall the nvidia drivers and nTune and then install 158.18 I get all the options in nvidia control panel, (without the nTune stuff of course) and then when I put nTune back on it completely screws up nvidia control panel and you can only see 'Adjust GPU' which is grey out anyways...

    So has ANYONE gotten nTune to work with these drivers, (and more importantly gotten FAN control to work)...

    I've seen a couple of links to articles about installing the nTune, changing the nTuneService, and moving the nvidia executable into Wow64 etc... but that doesn't seem to work either.

    stay away from ntune, it's no good, not needed and u can easily damage your system if you don't use it correctly

    The best tool to manage overclocks and fans in Vista x32 & x64 is "Gainward ExperTool v5.0" found on Gainwards homepage under "support". Works and installs without any problems.

    I thought it did NOT work in Vista 64 ... I will give it a try as soon as I get home ... does it have any special tricks during the install?

    It runs in my background as I write this post ;) (Vista Ultimate x64). Just install it as an administrator ("right mouse button" on the setup file and then "Run as administrator"). And remember to use the latest version - 5.

    Thats excellent news, do you, (or anyone) know if it would be able to control the fan of both cards in an SLI setup?

    Even one would be an improvement for bring down the case temp.

    158.18 drivers suck 4 me

    well, for my problems the 158.18 still sucks. I actually think they were the 101.41's (beta)(Vista 32) and they just changed the version numbers. During game play in Dark Crusade with a GTS 8800 card, the 158's locked up again. Just llike the 101.41's. So I went back to the 100.65.

    Plau how hard is it for them to fix the digital vibrance slider already?...This is ridiculous. Nvidia is really pissing me off....I mean I really like the 8800 but this driver thing is way out of control. In Supreme Commander after like 30 minutes of Game play..windows just closes the game.....Damn Vista 32

    anyone else with this problem?

    thanks,

    I don't know about the fans, never had an issue with temps, but I keep a good clean case and have a zalman bracket fan blowing directly on to the Card from above as well as an extra fan blowing parallel from below. What are your temps like? I am guessing with SLI they will be fairly high? I get around 57-60 Idle (depending on ambient temps) and around 76 full load

    What's wrong with DigVib slider? It works fine for me in XP32? Is this just a Vista issue?
