i plan to buy an asrock 4coredual-vsta that suports agp and pci-e
is it worth upgrading to a E6300 from my barton 3200+ and keeping my AGP 6800 gt ?
    i'l oc the E6300 to about 2.7- 3.0 ghz
how much of an increase in average framerate can i expect ?
ps:hope i posted in the right section

Well i can safely say that with an E6300 you will see alot of increase, its a whole new teck to that of your old skool Barton :p

But you probably wont achive much in the way of FPS increase due to you 6800GT bottlenecking your E6300, are you on a budget? because a dual board (AGP and PCI-E) isnt worth it if you could get a new card and that e6300 that would be a excellent start, but if thats all you can afford to do, then go with the E6300

BTW have you looked at the E4300? maybe get one of those and a better board?
    Let me know :)

You'd get an increase, but keep in mind that you would have the VIA 880PT chipset IIRC, so on that board you *should* only be able to reach ~300fsb, so with that e6300 that translates to ~2100mhz max.

As for increase, it would depend on the game. More cpu-intensive games such as RTS' like Supreme Commander would benefit much more than graphics-heavy games, but with that said you should still notice a nice gain in all games. Cheers :)

Edit: As LengthMan said seconds before me, ;), maybe consider the e4300, as its higher multiplier would allow a much higher overclock, thus more performance, for cheaper! 300fsb X 9 = 2700mhz!

yes i am on a thight buget right now
    thx biglonglenthman i see the E4300 has a 9x multi and 300x9= 2700
and the yet to be released E4400 has a 10x multi meaning 300x10=3000 ^^
    i plan to upgrade to a pci-e mobo with ddr3 (lunch in q4 2007 ) and a dx 10 video card in q2 2008

avoid thta via based board that supports both ddr1/2 and agp/pci from asrock. slow board, bad drivers, and cant overclock for balls.

get their 865g based micro-atx board that supports core 2 and an e4300 (high mulit and lower fsb). for 250$ (cdn) u can shift your system to a core 2 @ 2.7ghz+:behead:
