I know those guys.. they put a lot of work into DC and have offered it for years for free because it was kinda of a hobby... 9 bucks is not bad for as good a program as it is and free updates for life.. when was the last time you didn't pay an annual subscription fee for an anti virus (besides avg :p )

Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't and I doesn't seem to make any differance.

I personally wouldn't pay for it.

Rivertuner I would however, if it means it keeps going.

I almost always pay for good shareware that I use. However, I would not pay for DC Pro, because it is more of a good luck charm than a useful piece of software. Most of the time, it doesn't seem to do anything more than you can do by uninstalling the drivers properly, rebooting and reinstalling the new drivers. I have to give nVidia some credit (Ouch, this hurts). Their new driver packages (both chipset and graphics card) do a much better job of clearing the registry of junk when you install new versions.

My experience using DC Pro on Vista x64 is that it does nothing, since the driver uninstall/install process leaves nothing for it to clean. I vote no on paying for DC Pro.

Only a measly $10 for a program that can save one heck of a lot of time troubleshooting? Sign me up. Why shouldn't these guys be compensated for their efforts? I'll buy it. It beats the hell out of doing possible multiple OS reinstalls.

I bought it weeks ago. Would I have prefered it to be free? Well, yes of course I would. Does it bother me that I have to pay for it? Not at all. $10 is hardly anything to complain about, and I think it's money well spent.

I own several computers, so when I first downloaded the free version, I saved it to a flash drive and loaded it on all of them from there.

Guru3d still has the free one up on the net, and it works a charm. So do other sites. Unless nvidia or ati change their driver installation routines severely (not possible, this is OS based) DriverCleaner (old free ver) will continue to work without a hitch.

Besides, the amount of performance gained from a 'clean' driver install is very little at best.

If you can't find it for free, instead of OS re-installation, you should re-learn the internet.

Because of the way Vista automatically re-installs a driver after uninstalling the current I just install over the old drivers. Everything comes out at the new version so it works fine doing it that way.

For XP I just uninstall the current then install the new after the reboot. No cleaning needed with these newer driver releases.
