WoW !!! Crazy bottlenecking :-S...But I'm actually glad to see that I'm not the only one who is kinda having this problem... I had a choice between getting a new video card or buying new ram, a cpu, psu, case, and motherboard. And ended up buying a new video card....Really didn't matter b/c within a few more months I'll have more money to upgrade once again...

Yea...Massive BOTTLENECKING.... But I don't care about 3dmark scores... I brought this card for gaming and despite my low 3dmark scores this card still flys with max rez + eye candy (AA+AF MAXXED IN EVERY GAME)!!! which is all I care about...Beats the crap out of my old 9800se (softmodded to 9800pro)

    Some of my Games ;-)

Hmm, if there is one thing I should have learnt buy now is that the new hardware never quite reaches my expectations but that never stops me shelling out for the new stuff either..........

and if you game at lower than 1280x1024 with your new 8xxx series (one, your a dolt) you probably won't notice the difference between 150fps and 120fps either. I reckon the only time you'll notice the difference is when you're "playing" 3DMark.

Woah..didnt expect my rant would turn into a flame war..well its okay you guys.I guess i need to think about it, i know there's some serious bottleneck and that maybe limit my enjoyment. Guess im going to pray and sleep and chose what my heart tells me the next day.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway ;)

Are you going to game @ 1600x1200 or higher? If so the 8800gts (640 or 320(if you will hardly use 4xAA or higher) ought to do the job perfectly as long as you also add more ram. I know there will be a bottleneck but aslong as gaming goes smooth then go for it. I do not regret pairing up my 8800gts with my Opteron 146 and I'll be going from a 19" CRT (1600x1200) to a 30" Dell LCD soon. Besides, get the card now and get a better board, 2gigs of ram, and a conroe later. But I do suggest a better power supply regardless. :flame:

Edit: Again, its your money so do what you wish even though it may look like a bad decision.

You get dizzy with anything bigger than 19", how quaint! I wonder how you would fair if you had to play with my beast (LOL). You would probably faint if you saw what I had a couple of days ago, it was two Dell 30" 3007wfp in 2560x1600 res. (only one now). Try gaming with that!

Nice score, but could you please run a default benchmark? ....
That Athlon has to be a bottleneck, but it doesn't seem to be for your 1950 :O

How is his bench NOT a default benchmark? Unless you're counting the CPU tests which play 0 part in your final score.

not sure if this is due to bottleneck, but most games seem to run smoother with higher FPS at 1600x1200 then 1280x1024 - heres my testing on oblivion with 16xaf/4xaa using 'fraps benchmark'

    [1280x1024]
    ----------------
    Min, Max, Avg
    15, 75, 39.683

    [1600x1200]

    Min, Max, Avg
    22, 83, 40.350

    [2048x1536]

^you are CPU limited bro, ur card has a lot of reserved power @ lower reso /settings that's why u dont see big impact when you crank the settings all the way up.

yeah i know cpu is holding me back a lot, i guess i wasnt clear of my point though; i meant that all games run smoother/higher fps at 1600x1200(higher res) then they do at 1280x1024(lower res) , even with AA+AF
