I'll probably buy a 15" lcd monitor. Obviously, I like gaming. So far, the best I found with 1024x768 resolution has 8ms of response time and contrast 500:1.
I want to know if anyone knows something better than this.

That sounds good. But I don't have a powerful rig and I cannot afford high resolutions right now. Anyway, is there any big loss on playing at 1024 on that samsung, until the upgrade of the whole system?

The screen I showed you is perfectly fine. Your rig is better than my brother's and he plays on a 19'' screen. There should be no loss playing at 1024x768, when you feel ready you can switch it to 1280x1024 which is also fully supported by that screen.

    get at least a 17" lcd screen and you will not get dissapointed; also you can still upgrade your videocard in the near future;

Since you got a geforce 6800le, you have tried to unlock the pipelines and vertex shaders for playing games with more details and at higher resolutions?
Use Rivatuner you can do that; very easy and risk free (unlike flashing the videocard with a modded bios)!

Also if you look at the specs of the 15" lcd screen, most of them got 12ms or 16ms response time, which means ghosting in fast games like first person shooters and real time strategy games like C&C (you really will notice the ghosting (in my opinion worser than in FPS games when you scroll the screen with your mouse) in RTS games, and I am not joking.

    These ones I can recommend:

17" lcd screens under the 160 US dollars:

    SAMSUNG 740N-BK Black 17" 8ms LCD Monitor - Retail
149.99 US dollars after rebate at Newegg.

    Acer AL1706Ab Black 17" 8ms LCD Monitor - Retail
    159.99 us dollars at Newegg.

    Acer AL1717BBM Black 17" 8ms LCD Monitor - Retail
    159.49 us dollars at Newegg.

The Samsung 731bf posted by Satan sounds really good, the specs are great for that price 184.99 US dollars!

But again for the same money you can get a 19" lcd screen like the Samsung 941BW.

19" inch lcd screens under the 200 US Dollars:

SAMSUNG 941BW Black 19" 4 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail
for 179.99 US dollars after rebate at newegg!!! limited time offer!!

    SAMSUNG 940N Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor - Retail
    196.99 us dollars at newegg.

Acer AL1917ABMD Black 19" 8ms DVI LCD Monitor - Retail
    189.99 us dollars at newegg.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your opinions, I think I'll go for some 17" screen.
As for lower resolutions in lcd's some people says it's unnoticeable in games, but then again, some others says that everything depends on the scaling capabilties of the monitor and the video card.

Yes, I bough it with that in mind. It unlocked successfully to 12pp, 6vp.
