I have a Dell E1705 w/ a Nvidia 7900GS GO - Is that enough to run VISTA well on w/ DX10 and stuff? Secondly, What Driver should I currently be using - nVidia hasnt realeased a new one for the 7900go Series since July 5th and I am still using that one I think its 84.63 Lastly, What Version if Vista should I get for my laptop?
This should be in the OS forum section but i can answer your questions. 1. yes, you can run Vista with no problem but it can only render in DX9. The card is only DX9 compatible. 2. Get the latest thats coming out week or download it from Windows Update. 3. I'm leaning more at Windows Home Basic. You will not benefit from media center functions but its up to you. If you want Aero glass functionality then you should go with Windows Vista Home Premium.
You waited a whole, whopping, massive 4 hours. Give it some time... instantaneous answers are rare. I would question putting vista on a laptop, the heavy hardware demands might bog it down. With a 79GS Go in there, im assuming its a aming laptop, and in that case you'll want all the power you can get. Buying vista for it right now would be a bit of a waste.

While it is only capable of DX9, you shouldn't forget the benefits of Vista's new driver model. It allows system RAM to be used as GPU-addressable memory to increase the effective amount of texture memory. This may allow the execution of some games that previously would not run. It could also allow higher image quality in games where better textures are available.
