Hes just trying to justify his e-penis purchase of his G80's.

Did you look at the picture I posted allstopp? The game looks terrible, even the DEVS have confirmed that there are major performance issues. For what I was seeing on my screen I have no idea how I was getting 6FPS, especially when it runs at at least 10~15FPS at 1680x1050.

The game is unoptimized, PERIOD. No iffs, no buts.

Because the textures look like they're from 2000? Maybe if you stopped playing CS 1.6 you would know that? The only good thing about the graphics is the lighting.

lol , I knew it was coming. I'm not trying to justify anything to you guys, because quite frankly, I don't give a damn what you two think. And the only thing different is the lighting?...lol....How about the normal mapping, parallax mapping, bump mapping, specular highlighting, reflection maps....ect?

Also for you with the 6800GS, your card has 12 pipes, with 12 pixel shaders from an architecture that is almost 3 years old now. Todays games are becoming increasingly shader oriented and GPUs that lack in that department will be struggling with todays games.

i will get this for my ps3 when it comes out....the new games are just to rediculous on pc hardware.. I know my rig is getting old but come on.. They need to start making the hardware cheaper... we shouldnt have to spend 400-600 dollars just to get a game to run half decent on a pc. I KNOW THAT PC GAMING IS AN EXPENSIVE HOBBY. HOWEVER prices have really been rising. We are now looking at 1200 dollar processors and 650 dollar graphics cards!!! thats insane....and yes i took inflation into account, its still rediculas... I am happy i am making the switch back to console gaming... I just cant keep up with the cost of pc gaming anymore...

just use the graphic tweaks that were posted and some of you guys should have no problem running the game. While the lack of AA is an issue, the game still looks good to me, plus it's fun to play.

I'll be expecting the usual "are you blind?" retorts...

you have a point , but if you dont care what people think why are you posting and trying to change peoples opinion on the game.

those screenies you posted look dodgy mate , sure the lights and signs look ok but thats it , everything else , gun model , vehicles , buildings , all look , well ....... a bit poo.

i understand theres allsorts of other things going on in the "background" (bump mapping , specular lighting ((whatever the hell that is :p )) ) but all those "extras" just seem to contibute to low fps and nothing else ;)

dont get me wrong im not one of those who thinks gameplay is everything , im an eye candy whore and i dont mind admitting it ;) ive seen some spectacular screenies for this game , but they seem few and far between , the ones ive seen posted up here by actual gamers playing hav'nt really impressed me.

My copy arrives tomorrow ;) ;)

The unreal engine used to power this game, its diferently used than it was on Double agent.
Its true in some areas the textures look nasty, but in this game its the gameplay that stands out .
Last time i had this much fun I was playing Call of Juarez
    THx Ubisoft guys!!!

That was an incredibly long install...

I just played through a bit of the first mission (since its 4am here) and it seems really awesome. Graphics are pretty sweet (some textures are crapola but for the most part they arent too bad). I tried playing it at 1600x1200 for ****s and giggles, and it broke my rig in half. However once I switched it to 1280x960 it was so freakin smooth. It actually surprised me on how smooth it was.

In any case, the gameplay is a lot of fun but the controls are taking a bit of getting used to (mind you I only played for about 5-10 minutes haha).

Well, i have it running 1920x1200 no probs on my rig, max settings no AA or AF. There ARE performance optimisation problems with this game though. Its a bit weird, i can be in say a large casino room shooting loads of bad guys and it wont drop below 50fps, then turn around and look at a wall and it'll cash all the way down to 18fps, which just doesnt make sense to me! LOL! But for the most part its 100% playable at those settings appart from the occasional slowdowns.

Gameplay is really awesome, graphically its a bit hit and miss... one minuite u think 'its good, but nothing i havnt seen before' then u'll walk into a room or see an effect that looks absolutley stunning. Definately not using the full potential of UE3, but its still a good lookin game! :)

R6 Vegas uses UE3, so what does GRAW use ? sorry to be off topic.

Serbezan Dragos, prietene, R6V uses Unreal Engine 3 and Splinter Cell Double "Beta" uses the 2.5 version of this engine.

And quoting the "6800GS guy", this game is simply UNOPTIMISED. Period. And any 8800GTx user claiming the "contraire" has deffo lost his touch with reality.

    One more thing:

The terms "decent", "flawless", "no probs" are SUBJECTIVE. Meaning one will be pleased playing this game at 30FPS and another will only be ok with 50+ FPS.
Therefore, argueing or disagreeing about this matter is pointless. I saw once some smart-asses bragging about how good some games run at max settings on their systems and when I checked the real performance they were actually playing with 15FPS. BUT they were pleased about it. Heh.

So, it's kinda all subjective; graphics, gameplay and performance.

everyone needs to do some growing up about the performance ans graphics of the game , ive had an arguement about this allready , but we have agreed to dis-agree , i think that a new game requires new technology , specially if its running on the U3 engine, needs new hardware thats it , no if's no but's , thats the end of it

One way or the other, from what I heard, the game could be more optimized. I agree that this game requires new technology, and thats fine. But it doesn't really help building a nice online community. It will just be stuck with all kind of rich boys or nerds.

So Ive been playing it a bit more, and I must say its pretty good, though I keep dying by some stupid little mistake like 3 feet in front of a checkpoint so I have to start all over. :(

However the save system isnt as annoying as no AA :p

    Thats on my system.

    6800gt
    ath64 3500@2.43ghz
    1gb samsung 1t

I play @ 1024x768, shadows low. No patch yet. I am going to try the suggestion for better fps on a few pages back.

Anywayz, This game should be running better on my system, let alone ppl with hefty rigs etc.

And if this is the next gen engine, then its not all that i'm afraid, or they didnt use it right? its buggy, i can walk through barrels in some parts of the game, lol.

The textures are awful fullstop, To be honest, hl2 textures look better, and the water looks better as well, not to mention the physics in hl2.

Now this game needs pixel shader 3, one question why?

Is it the non existant HDR< its there, but its not all that. Good look at farcry, now thats HDR, and fc actually uses the most accurate form of it, and it runs awsome. I only lose 10-15fps with hdr in fc. But am glad to do so as it looks so good.

But apart from the graphics, The gameplay is excellent, yes A.I could have been better i agree, But you feel like you have to hide behind everything, take ur time, like u would in real life(no i'm not an expert, but would expect it this way)

I'm not on the vegas mission yet, i'm just coming out of the tunnels, but so far, despite the problems here and there, i'm loving it.

I do have a question, i remmember seeing the video using the Unreal3 engine and the bumpmapping was awsome. This game would have look Unreal(sorry for the pun, if it were used like in the vids.)

    Check my Screenshot.

You are getting fine results from your PC xg-ei8ht. Considering that your CPU is well below the recommended specs of 3500+ or better. Also you only have 1Gb of RAM is not helping you either. The Textures may not look as good because you cannot max out the settings in this game. But that is to be expected on your rig.
