Hi there, i have a 7900gs with stock speeds of 450mhz - 1.32ghz. I have managed to overclock it to 603mhz - 1.57ghz stable and am wondering if this is pushing it a bit too far? everything works good at these settings and it doesnt seem to get to hot. the card has stock cooling and 256mb memory.

Should i take it further ?

My Temps are 49c-51c idle, im not too sure how too see the temps when the gpu is on full load. Is there an app i can use that puts 100% load on the gpu so i can see what the temp rises too?

Very nice core clocks for Stock voltage.

Are you sure thats the max for the memory? Mine does 1780 on stock voltage.

Hi, just for comparison my max clocks are 619/1780. My temps are (+/- a degree) 43c idle and 60c load. That's with a vf900. I wouldn't recommend pushing your card past 600mhz without some sort of aftermarket cooling! The ram on most, if not all, 7900GS' should reach 1600mhz+.

CanadianTSi, did you voltmod your card? If so, please fill me in, as I am wanting to juice up my card a bit as well :)

Yah I volt modded the Core to 1.4v and it run's rock solid stable at 685mhz.

Temps are similar to yours with an Artic Silencer 6.

I can almost get away with 700 benchable, I tried upping the voltage to 1.45v and that didn't really help much so I just decided to leave it at 1.4v and be happy with my results.

Simply connect the 2 points on the card using a conductive pen or something similar.

Red is 0.05 volts over stock, Yellow is 0.1, and Purple is 0.2.

Well, I've got a Conductive Ink pen on the way, hopefully it will be here tomorrow morning! I've got a question though...the default voltage is 1.3v on the core with my XFX 7900 GS. I've confirmed that with my multimeter. So when I do the voltmod, is it still the same with the .05v, .1 and .2 connections, or more simply, if someone did the 1.2v - 1.4v mod, and I did the SAME mod, would mine be 1.3v - 1.5v, or would it still give me 1.4v?

Any insight is appreciated, as I'd like an idea instead of just diving in and testing it myself ;)

Weird that your card has 1.3v default. I would assume that they would still be the same so if you did the .2v mod you would end up with 1.5vgpu.
