I have the BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB agp version.

The default clocks speeds in rivatuner show up as
    420 core
    275 memory

The 420 core is correct according to the specs, but the memory
    should be 400 x2 I thought.

These same numbers show up in the coolbits tab also.

    I can overclock to
    495 core
    323 memory

    Are these memory numbers correct?
Is there another program that can tell me the true speeds?

hmm odd, what forceware are you using? driver version in other words and what version RivaTuner are you using?

i have the leadtek 7600gs 256mb AGP with forceware 91.47 RivaTuner 2.0 RC16 but it says my driver is not supported >_>

even though it is 323*2, that is rather slow compared to the given specifications from BFG. sub standard? lol

    I running forceware 91.47 and RivaTuner 2.0 RC16.
I also try the beta forceware drivers.
You can get the card working in Rivatuner by adding
it to the rivatuner config file.
Do a search to find out the details, I can't remember
    exactly.

    Softerman

I tryed that software and it says my memory is at 275 x2 also.
This is well below the 400 x2 it should be.

in ultimate edition open the gpu and look for the memmory bus properties.pls see the effective clock

And here is my overclocked specs. If you still find your effective clock below 800,then your card might have been underclocked. Then try to increase the memmory clock

No error, RT is OK. You have wront saying your memory speed are 400x2.

BFG 7600GS AGP have a "low" memory clock (without OC):

    Core: 420Mhz
    Memory: 275Mhz DDR2 (DDR -> 275 = 550 Efective)

"The 420 core is correct according to the specs, but the memory
    should be 400 x2 I thought."

400x2? according to the specs, memory clock aren't specificate. 400 is the RAMDAC. 7600GS have a Dual 400 RAMDAC. RAMDAC isn't memory clock! RAMDAC are a converter. You have a ramdac for each output monitor. my english is very bad for explain you that is RAMDAC, you can go to wikipedia or other sources and read a lot of this.

Anyway, always you can OC your card.

RT are OK, your memory speed is 550Mhz.

RAMDAC is an digital to analog converter ... and it works at 400 MHz

Performance 3D GPU: 420 MHz, Memory: 275 MHz

I understand that the RAMDAC isn't the memory speed.
The data I found online says that the 7600gs has the memory
    at 400 x2 or 800 effective.

BFG doesn't list the memory speed in their specs, so before
I bought the card I called them to ask what the memory speed
was. They told me 800 effective.

Mine is saying 274 x2 or 548 effective.

I can overclock the card to
    495 Core
    323 Memory (646 effective)

I belived that your 400Mhz was about ramdac. Anyway, AGP version have a efective 550Mhz "only". yes, 800Mhz memory clock is for PCI-E version.

In wiki show that all 7600GS have a efective 800Mhz, yes, but... one thing is that chips can be run to this speed, and other that manufactured (BFG), build 7600GS to this speed. For example, wiki say that 7600GT have a 1400 memory speed, but my 7600GT have a 1600 without OC. Each brand build own cards, and are differents. Other brand have a 7600GS AGP to higher speed and other slower.

If you search a little, you can view that is true, BFG 7600GS have 550Mhz, dont 800. Yes, is a extrange, but is true. Maybe for lower cost in productions or...

There are some 7600gs that do run at 800.

    ZOGIS
    Leadtek
    eVGA

While researching I thought all 7600gs
    ran at 800.

    I was wrong.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

Don't worry too much about the memmory clocks.well,if u can play the games you intend with that card it's okay.try running new games in 800x600 on medium settings.if you feel choppy, try some overclock and always watch the tempratures

The card is used in my home theater pc.
I run it for hdtv recordings and playback.
According to my testing and everything I read
online Hdtv playback is highly depentant on the
    memory speed.
I have seen this myself running this card
at stock 550 and overclocked to 664.
At 664 the playback of 720p is still slightly choppy in VMR9
    mode.

If you find that the card is suppose to have 400 mem clock "800 effective" and it doesnet, return the bastard, for same one or get something differentg with higher clocks all together, every little mhz counts regardless of what "they" say
