Hello Gents, Im about to buy a Vf900 for my 7600GT, i was wandering where does the fan plug in, does it plug directly into the 2 pin header on the card or does it plug in to the power supply's molex connectors? Cheers. P.S can you post your temps aswell.
It takes a 3pin conector like your cpu fan. You can get adaptors so you have a 3pin from a molex plug.
Well it was either when my psu died and it damaged the card with a surge or I mounted my vf900 wrong. I was just playing fear combat and it froze I rebooted and there where exclamation marks all over the bios and it said my card had 512.1MB SAM wtf!? Then it had artifacts in bootup and the desktop is just totally screwed. But I am looking to buy a replacement. I do not want to hijack this thread so any more questions post here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=197509
(70f ambient) 42c idle, 50c rthdribl Edit: Connects to the PSU via 3-pin connector. I used the included fan controller for my front intake fan. :3
With my 6800gt i get 47 idle and 55 is the highest I've gotten under load. As for the connection I had to plug into a system fan slot on my MB due to the v-900 having a 3 pin connector.
I have two VF900's and they are great coolers. I have both plugged into MB fan connections. My usual idle temps are in the 35-40C range and 50-55C load range.
I believe the fatality one spins a bit faster, but it produces more sound as well. So I'd go with the regular one, it's more than enough cooling for your needs
