Poetry.com has just notifed me via mail that they liked one of the poems I submitted enough to publish it and put me into a national compitition for 1000US. This is exciting, look for the book it gonna be called Immortal Verses,my name is PHillip Causey and the poem is called hero.

Just be careful. If you have to pay to get your stuff published jump ship. I remember a poetry scam where your basically paying to get your poetry published in a book printed in very limited quanitites no one is going to read along with a lot of other people's poetry who are paying too.
Yeah, the site looks a little shaky to me. From their site: "Anyone can enter the competition simply by submitting an original poem, 20 lines or fewer with a maximum of 60 characters per line, on any subject, in any style. If your poem makes it to the semi-finals, you will receive an acknowledgment by regular mail within seven weeks." Damn, that sucks misleading people like that and making them think they've made it to the semi-finals and such to lure them in. I guess that is why you got the mail according to the link/article gram vaz gave.

It's even been paradied on a few TV shows, it was on the Simpsons I believe. The closest thing you're going to get your poem published is if you post it here. Sorry Candle. If you think your poem is good material, you might want to try putting it past an English prof at the nearest university. They might be able to help you get it published in something legit.
I just read your poem Candle... good stuff there. Too bad the whole poetry.com publishing thing is a scam, but look at the bright side: The poetry.com site probably gets thousands of hits a day, so at least you are published on the web where lots of people can read and enjoy your poem as I just did.
even if its a scam, its been published once already by the USO news letter for soilders in Iraq, I can post it here if yall wanna read it.
screw it thanks for telling me this, im not sending in the paper work for them to publish it, ill retain my copy right to this work and put it to better use. I was actully excited, thought maybe I might have talent, oh well. *edit do yall mind if I put it here, maybe yall will like it, if it sucks though tell me so I'll stop embrassing myself.
