There are a lot of drivers alive right now ... from 84.21 to 91.33 ...

WHQL'ed or not ppl use almost everyone of them.

Crazy it is that nVIDIA messed around instead of doing the good job ...

91.xx supposed to fix a lot of issues from the 8x.xx (dvd playback, h264 support, purevideo etc etc etc) but instead they focused on their PREMATURE card 7950GX2 that was launched without any driver support and in A BIG HURRY to shut up ATI and 1900XTX ...

The battle for the top line was between 7900GTX and 1900XTX and ATI won that battle ... nVIDIA strugled to get out card that IMHO is not a stable decent pure quality card ... it's a hybrid a monster that is not going to live long ...

So for US "normal" users (6200 - 7800GT/GS/GTX ; even 7900GT/GTX) there are some crappy drivers out 91.31 that IMHO are not good at all ...

So this is thread for ppl to write about what card and drivers think that is the best !

    AND WHY !

Example: 7800GS - 84.56 WHQL'ed partially ... because I can play dvds on tv clone mode.

using the 91.28 for a long time now .. infact the most compatible , stable and performing drivers on my system till now ... didn't even bother to try the newer yet .... waiting for a 91.xx series WHQL driver ....

And oh .. no video playback problem here ....

I would agree with Bernek. I originally purchased a x1900xtx and was pleased with everything BUT the leaf blower fan. I then got offered this card I have now through my local computer shop and I bit. The regrets I've had since are too numerous to list. $500 is a lot of money to me and I feel like I got robbed. I've had to do a few bios flash tricks to get it to run stable even. That should NOT be necessary, imo.
I voted 84.43 but I was gonna try 84.56 next. The 9 series drivers are causing issues for me at this time. Good thread Bernek!

Thank you very much for your sincerety and onesty, also thanks for replying.

nVIDIA was a great deal few years ago ... the 6 series were a success after all but with the new series drivers/hardware they had some issues that shaked their position as leader in graphics chip manufacturers...

Software support played an important role in this and NOT realeasing stable good workin all around drivers made this image lay among them.

When I had my 6600GT or even 5600XT I didn't encounter so many problems ... everything was working good, I used to update drivers only because newer appeared not because of instability/BSODs and other issues...

ATI on the other hand didn't have so many problems and (as an nVIDIA fan) I hope that the 8 series or the newer drivers will bring stability and performance for all nVIDIA GPU's :)

Sincerely I wasn't stuck to my AGP rig I will change my 7800GS with a PCIE ATI card maybe 1800XT 512 or 1900XT ... or the flavoured 1900XTX ...

seems ppl are not so interested about voting for the best driver LOL

everybody change it's driver from day to day and didn't know what to vote for ?

seems the latest are the worst ... because ppl change back to 8x.xx series ...

Ultra performance in Doom 3 engine based games (84.66 were slooooow compared to these), image quality is also very decent and i don't have any problems that i had in 91.31. So these are the ones i like :)

i cant remember what the 8x drivers were like, been a while since i used them. ive used the 91.28's since they came out they have been great. tried .31 and .33 but they both crashed my system.

91.28 have been stable and fast for me.

91.33 because they are the most stable and have the smoothest performance in games for my system. First post by the way.

91.33 for me now on my XP, was using the 91.28 beta, tried the 91.31 (SLi pop up bug and Tray icon bug) the 91.33 works fine for me, ingame performance is good (CoD2, BF2 etc) no video playback problems at all.

Using the 88.61 on Vista and all is good there too.
It is a little bloated but works ok, enabling driver level overclocking with RivaTuner works fine. The scrollable temperature graph is a nice innovation.

I changed to 91.33 and finished "Prey" (the full game not the demo) ... It was stable enough for few hours ! this game is long and nice !

Little off topic but I almost got physically sick from the ramps in that game :puke3:
I was gung-ho to buy it but I guess I'm a wussy..almost puking during a video game is not my idea of fun. Same thing happens to me in HL2 Episode 1.
I start to feel nausea and blam...run to the toliet!!

ps, using 91.33s now after updating my nForce driver to 6.86 from 6.70s seems to have fixed problem I was having with video playback in 9 series drivers before, fyi.

84.21 for me with my 2 x BFG 7900GT SLI combination - no problems at all...

Until I see a VERY positive thread about any of the newer drivers I won't bother trying any others - you can normally gauge how good/bad some drivers are on here by the overall reaction - the 91.xx series do get some good reports but there are way too many bad reports - I'll be waiting a bit longer before moving away from 84.21 :)
