No me neither....14.5k in 05 and this is what he said about the noise and heat.

They are pretty much silent in operation. As for the heat under full load. There isn't masses of air flow but what does come out is freaking hot over the finger..!

  3. I've seen that too. He'll probably pull an amazing score in 06 just because of his 2 CPU's (total of 4 cores!) and not so much from the cards themselves. I bet he'll get 12k with that setup;)

I used the EVGA step up to get in queue for a couple of the 7950s. Have to try them out first hand to see what they are about :)

  7. Staying at the top is a viscious cycle isn't it?

It's a hobby. Have to try out the latest stuff, right? Conroe, SLI, Quad SLI, Crossfire, and now the new Crossfire with a third card to handle physics. It never ends, which is why I like it.

  9. I must admit I'm very intrigued by the thought of quad SLI.......But until we can get the quad core kentsfield or maybe AMD's equivalent I don't think any CPU can keep up with them.....

Quad core CPU can't do anything if games aren't optimized for it. I think AMD K8L architecture will probably be able to handle Quad SLI.

seems like we can take apart the two PCB on the 7950 GX2, so at least for now applying AS5 on the heatsink is possible lol, even volt mod, but I wouldn't dare to until we have better cooling solutions.

  12. Maybe if someone can custom build an ultra thin water block with side mounted intake and outlet tubes it may be possible for water cooling, but you will need someone that is a master at fabricating such things:(

And even then the flow rate will be seriously impeded...

ok, got my EVGA 7950 GX2, installation is as easy as pi, install the card then driver 91.31, SLI is configured automatically, everything is ready to go in less than 5 mins. Got 8k 3Dmark06 at stock, @ 600/1600 got me ~ 9k 3Dmark06. Temp is around 80 degree (should be the first core, sandwiched one). In FEAR I got the same framerate going from 1024x768 to 1600x1200 4aa 16af max detail. Now I need a new CPU :(, care to lend me your CPU for a few days craptacular :D ?.

  15. lol....you aren't the first one to ask me that:rolleyes: If you can manage to keep temps down you may be able to get 9.5k in 06 and inch back up to GTX speeds of 650/1600;)

sadly 600/1600 is all this thing can do for now, temp got a little bit better after applying AS5 (2 degree celcius for now, should get better when the AS5 break in), temp Idle 55 load 78. Overclocking is probably limited because the first PCB is powered by the PCIe slot.
