Hey guys, I'm busy setting up my buddies Shuttle, and not everything's going smooth. Shuttle XPC sn25p AMD x2 4400+ EVGA Nvidia 7900gt Corsair Platinum 2x 1GB ram WD 250gb sata hdd The PSU / Mobo were already installed (duh ) and everything looked good to go. Finally got some thermal paste for 'em, he tries to start it up, and it happens. When the switch is flipped on the PSU, the green light on the mobo lights up. Looks good. When the power button at the front of the case is hit, the red light near the CPU lights up, and the fans spin for almost a second. The red light and green light remain on, while everything else stops motion. I checked and double checked the guide for any plugins that could be missing, and checked, double checked for any loose plugs. I tried switching the jumper to clear the CMOS, as directed on their site incase it doesn't boot (I knew it wouldn't work but had to try..) and no luck, the same damn thing. So right now, I've taken out the HDD/CDRom, and unplugged the additional power on the vid card, so that it's only running the CPU and RAM, and fans..and it still does the same thing. I'm wondering if he's got a bum PSU, which is what it's looking like. Also, we have to use the extender for the CN5 power cord, which was included by Shuttle, in order for it to reach the mobo. It won't reach without it, as i've tried, but I may just end up trying to take off the plastic thing holding it to the side of the case, so that it can reach, just incase it's a bad extension thing. Well, if any of you guys can figure out how to get it to work, let me know please. My comp went together first try :/
I would remove the MB from the case and try it out of the case with cpu mem and vid card and system speaker only. What you are describing is the PS shuting down due to a MB short to ground
Ok so we fidgeted with it. Now it works when we lift up the mobo, and be careful not to put any pressure on it, as it's still able to touch somewhere on the case. The thing is, if you give it a little shaking, it stops working. So we're thinking that I'll have him send it back, and have them make sure the next one is aligned correctly, or something man. We didn't take out the motherboard because it's already connected to the front slots, which if you own a SN25P or have seen a pic of, know its in there pretty good..and I don't wanna mess up the warranty. Any suggestions before we pack it up would be good, thanks for the help
Yep make sure you don't have a metal standoff mounted under the MB where no hole exits and also that all other metal standoffs are directly centered to the holes. If you have nylon standoffs use them, Good luck
