Am I a lucky bastard or what!!!!

I have an MSI Starforce 6600GT --> 128MB so I thought I could try to increase its frequencies... now this is insane but...

MSI drivers contain their own overclocking utility which is kind of crap but worked fine on me... My system is sort of tuned and my scores on factory settings with forceware 81.98 are:
    3dmark03: 8603
    3dmark05: 3606
    aquamark03:~53000

I overclocked my card by changing GPU freq from 500 to 507MHz and mem freq from 1000 to 1017MHz which is nothing. RIGHT FER SURE!!!! THAT my friends happened to be the SWEEEEEET point of my card!!!

OK so I tried some more freqs. I even got to 550 1180 and my scores were... kind of pathetic... However... with my 507MHz core and 1017MHz mem I got these nice scores...

    3dmark03: 9281
    3dmark05: 3881
    aquamark03:~56000

COOL EH??? Isn;t that weird or what???!!!!!!

BTW I just scored 3921 on 3dmark05... Are you kidding me??? If I can get such scores on such a little freq increase I'm staying right where I am!!!

The cores tend to go higher as its got slower 128bit memory interface (dont confuse with amount of memory), thats why they are like 500mhz on core while the flagship 6800Ultra was only 425mhz, but it had a 256bit Memory controler.

nice score with that kind of oc.

well i already broke the 4000 barrier in 3dmark05. i break it with the core running only at 565.
to my surprise, i see everybody is able to hit memory to something like 1200. i could only get it to run 1080, anything over that causes aritifacts. :frown:

hm... I had my gigabyte 6600gt @ 603/1155 (zalman vf700cu) and scored a hefty 9803 in 3dmark03... with the same cpu I have now...

A lot of room for improvement there m8, especially since people have been getting over 10k results as well...

i think 550/1100 is the best setting for a 6600GT

although i overclocked the card at 572/1120 and didnt face any problem except a few artifacts at the last game test ...the "mother nature" in 3d mark 03

    Volt modding sure will ....

WTF ??? How do u assume 550/1100 to be the best settings for the 6600GT ??? RU out of ur mind ... every single card has its own "perfect" operating frquency ... which varies a lot with the drivers too ..... like i said .. my card managed 585/1195 with the stock cooling and 76.44 ... never reached those freq. with other drivers ...... rock stable .. the only concern was the temps which went to as high at 95c during summer ..... lol .. that was pretty high i guess ....

*HEY* u could have posted once only ... why did u break up ur reply into two posts for now reason ??? Hmm ... cheap way to increase posts i guess ....

Hey deathvirus it seems you stay in a room with temps around 95c
Hey 95 is not a matter of joke. i admire that the threshhold is 145 but at 550/1100 the card runs at about 70c. Now the card is not only for getting scores but also for playing games which it seems u never do...
    good luck buddy...

Ummm yea....your so called record has long been beat my friend. With my 6600GT running 600 core / 1230 mem. I hit 10,251. Could prolly break 11k but didn't push the card any harder. If I don't wind up selling it soon, then it will be volt modded & pushed harder, for the hell of it. But a good card should have no problems hitting 600 core with decent cooling.

550/1100 is a weak overclock, most OC'd 6600gt's I've seen are above that.

I hit 596/1225 on my 6600GT with the vf-700cu. The mem might go higher as i haven't seen artifacts but rivatuner's internal test doesn't like any higher and i don't particularly want to disable it.
