What resolution are you running at?

    I have a 6600GT - AMD 2500+, 1.25GB RAM,
at 800x600 with Bloom and 2x aa - medium textures I get about 15fps in the woods or in town if there are NPC's around. I havent tryed HDR with the new drivers.

With 84.43 I actually get worse performance (8fps in the woods, I have reverted to 84.30 for the time being to make the game playable.)

I have done the pre-render = 0 trick, which boosted my performance with the 84.30 drivers by ~5-10 fps (for me thats significant.)

    Anyone have any thoughts.

No, I tested the standard drivers. It was merely to share performance results, in case anyone was wondering.

Oh, alright :) would be nice if you try with my modified .inf and report any improved IQ and decrease/increase in performance...

I've only tested on my rig so far, and I've seen improvements in IQ but no decrease nor increase in performance...

    Noob question

I noticed the newer drivers sre listing only MSI in display/properties. I have an Nvidia 6600 agp and I was used to bthe oc features in it. With the newer MSI I have no idea how to do this. Is there either A) an option to use the older coolbits feature or B) OC throught the MSI options?

Use my modified .inf and you'll be able to OC it through the ForceWare-tab in Display Settings. Still the same drivers, just some tweaks to improve IQ and compatibility :)

Quickly installed and tested with Fear. Disgusting.

    Fear: 74 FPS(avg.), 44 FPS(min.) in 84.30
    Fear: 74 FPS(avg.), 35 FPS(min.) in 84.43.

    Tested in 1600 x 1200 4AA, 8AF, Soft shadows on, shadows enabled.
3DMark05 seems to be worse .

Should be going back to 84.30.

    Setup 2:
    AMD Athlon 3000+ @ 290 x 9 = 2.61GHz
    Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Socket 939
    OCZ Platinum 1GB DDR400 PC3200 Rev 2 Dual Channel Memory (3-4-4-10 2T)
    eVGA 7900GT 256MB DDR3 550/1700 SLi
Western Digital Raptor 37GB + several Caviers

I was using 84.25 which was smoother for Oblivion.

Just updated to 84.43 and i saw an FPS boost, probably around 2-5 fps in oblivion, and the IQ is a lot more crisper.

    3DMark06
    - 84.25 = 2100+ (don't know why they were so low)
    - 84.43 = 2700+

    Paulakers,

Is it possible that one of the compatability fixes in these causes Fear to render something that it was NOT rendering properly before, thus causing the PFS slowdown? Did you look carefully?

Sorry to burst the 'awesome IQ' thing going on here, but Splinter Cell Chaos Theory looks terrible...the pixel shading only, but goddamn.

Every other game looks great, but sumbitch, Chaos theory's shading (max EVERYTHING) looks like a goddamn...jigsaw puzzle?

smoother for you means faster or slower??

And Paulakers have you run the test on FEAR again, cause it may be just something that happened cause MAX FPS is the Same?? (BTW how to do that test I also have FEAR) Once you show me how to test on FEAR I'll test my current specs with 84.21 and then I'll install 84.43 (using Driver Cleaner etc.) and run it again to see the difference ok??

was same as 84.25s in css and oblivion, but something about the hdr lighting in oblivion has changed. it seems more vivid and the brightness levels are a little different as well. not sure if it's because my color correction gamma ramp has to be redone with every driver install(where the hell does the driver save that?!) or not, but it definately appears to be different than it was(in a good way).

Thats because Splinter cell CT is really finiky when it comes to beta drivers. I dont know why, but ive read about this problem more then once. The last time i read this, was in a previous thread (84.25's ?), everything looked fine, except for the textures in the sky werent rendering at all, no clouds or moon haze, just black.

Im useing these 84.43 with the Tweakerizer and its already improved the flat IQ, and the fps hasnt changed versus the XG 84.22v2's, but my fps seems alot more stable when im running through smoke in cod2.

the FEAR/AA+shadows bug was supposed to be fixed with 84.20.. was it?

Yup. I supposed. I was not sure about how much boost the 84.21 and more advanced drivers make over previous ones. I think 74 in average is a really nice FPS for Fear with everything max out with only DX8 shaders off. In 84.43, what I saw in the testing environment was that the shooter on the right was actually having trouble to move as smoothly as the left shooter was. The bullet hitting on the locker doesn't look that smooth as well.

Any guys having premium SLi setup for Fear testing in max settings? I would like to compare it to you guys.

    Setup 2:
    AMD Athlon 3000+ @ 290 x 9 = 2.61GHz
    Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Socket 939
    OCZ Platinum 1GB DDR400 PC3200 Rev 2 Dual Channel Memory (3-4-4-10 2T)
    eVGA 7900GT 256MB DDR3 550/1700 SLi

    DJB,

You know what, I am not really sure. I did hope I would get the nice scores as you guys did in Oblivion, but since I am not the person who buys 50USD brand-new games, I am just gonna wait until the prices get down. I am not sure if there's anything to do with Giga-byte SLi motherboard as well. What I saw in Fear, as I said in the previous message, was that the rendering and the movement of the bullet was not as good as the one in 84.30. Currently I am RMAing the MSI K8N Diamond Plus motherboard, so I think that the testing should have been better in 1600 x 1200 everything on and max out if I use pure x16 SLi motherboard. What do you think dude? In the 3DMark05 Demo1 testing, I even saw 2 FPS drop in the test, and I have no clue what it happened in this way. When I went back to 84.30, the results came back to be excellent again.

    Hi there,

Smoother could mean faster, but it could mean the rendering is better(that's what most people say IQ). I ran the game twice with 84.30 and 84.43 each, but the result was just about the same. I don't care about the max results, it looks like the max of 84.43(19x) is higher than 84.30(18x). Though the average is just the same, I would like to stick with the previous one coz the min FPS is higher(44 FPS). I still haven't got Oblivion and Tomb Raider Legends yet, so maybe I can wait until the next set of modified or official drivers coming out.

To have a FPS testing in FEAR, what you need to do is to go to:

Options --> Performance --> Graphics(made the changes whatever you want them to be) --> test

I am not sure if that will make a difference. I haven't tested the drivers with my Giga-byte Dual 6800GT video card though. I got labs(Pipeline control system) due very soon and I don't wanna switch the card back and forth at this moment. But I wills surely test some new games for you guys.
    (I've got COD2, Doom3, Quake4, NFS:U2, Farcry, Tom's Clancy CF3, Prince of Persia Warrior Within)

Hope the instructions help. Leave the message to me what kinds of games you wanna test

That's correct. I'm in the process of updating the whole system -- 920 CPU, 975X based mainboard, 2GB DDR2, 7900 GTX. Should work out ;) Unfortunately the mainboard & CPU are still in the mail .. Got the card tho, what a monster ! I immediately ordered a waterblock .. :)

By the way, do you guys have the similar system as I do for the 3DMark2006 testing?

I got 6534, which I thought was pretty low. I think one of the reasons is that the fastest FSB the Gigabyte SLi motherboard(Not the RAM problem) can stand is 290, so the CPU speed is 2.6GHz. Besides, I got around 1k scores loss coz I am just using single core. Do you guys get 8k or more for 7900GT SLi/7900GTX SLi/7800GTX 512 SLi/7800GTX 256 SLi in dual core systems?

    Setup 2:
    AMD Athlon 3000+ @ 290 x 9 = 2.61GHz
    Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Socket 939
    OCZ Platinum 1GB DDR400 PC3200 Rev 2 Dual Channel Memory @290 (3-4-4-10 2T)
