there's another method besides conductive pen. You could always just get a wire and tape it again the pcb board so it mnakes contact, sort of like soldering but no solder :)

Well I'm attempting this right now. It's a tiny spot to work on so I had to tape it off and retry about 4 times before I got it perfect. I dunno how the **** you could do with with conductive paint, because I had a hard enough time with the pen which has a pretty tiny point to it. Just waiting for it to dry. Hope this work...

actually i used a tiny micro flat tip screw driver and coated it then laid it flat and pulled the paint off it slowly ..had to do it 3 or 4 times to make all the straight lines ...

be very careful when doing hard mods as you need to understand that the 2d and 3d voltages are different. measure the voltage while running a 3d application to get your voltage and then add from there. if your running 1.2v's in 2d you may be running 1.3-1.4v's in 3d and no nvidia card should go over 1.55v's max(maybe even down to 1.5v's) on air in 3d mode. water would be like another .1v for 24/7 use.

Well I did the 1.4 conductive pen mod. I didn't wanna go any higher than that without better then stock cooling though. Maybe after the zalman vf900 comes out or if I decide to go water, I'll up it to 1.5-1.55.

Here are my results though (3dmark05 tested)

Prior to the volt mod, I could get roughly 9350 in 3dmark05. Now I'm at this.

you dont need the MOD 1.4v to get 10300marks

with stokcooler and stok voltage i get 10321 marks on my XFX 7900GT XT(590/1800) :D

here is a good score with MOD:

Well the results are going to vary from person to person. Pre volt mod (1.4v) I could only go as high as 525 core before I got artis. After, 640 is the highest. I'd call that a success as my 3dmark05 score went up about 1000 points.

When I get a zalman to put on here, I'm sure I could hit 700 core. I just don't want to push the thing too far for no reason at all. It's hard to pinpoint it exactly without rivatuner where my temps are. If I alt-tab switch out of a game like oblivion after a few hours into the nvidia temp monitor, I'm at about at around 53c, so I assume I'm getting close to 60c in-game.

How many volts is that guy at anyway? I'm thinking 1.6-1.7 but I guess 1.55 is possible. I'm sure he has awesome cooling though because if he's willing to put near 1.7v into his dual core. That's not something I would do w/o water. I could throw my opty up to 3ghz on that kinda voltage and even amp up my 7900gt even higher and probably get an awesome score, but it's not worth taking the chance of damaging anything IMO.

I don't think that's his setup. The specs are different then his. I think he's just saying that "this" is a good score.

yep , that score is from a guy of Xtremesystems with voltmod.

    with the paint mod you can get 1.4v , 1.45v , 1.5v or 1.55v

    1.45 vmod
    [IMG]

    1.5vmod

    1.55vmod:

The kyle , if your card at stok only get 520 Mhz in the core than your score with vmod its great ;)

XFX 7900GT with paint mod 1.4v can get 675Mhz on core

Well, there are two pics over at XtremeSystems that will really help everyone out. They are big so I'm just going to link to the pics rather than post the images directly. First one is http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45125&stc=1&d=1143153570 which can get you to 1.55v, but that didn't work well for me. I think the OCP kicks in because it works for a bit at 1.55v, probably a little lower actually, but it'll always fail eventually. The other is http://resources.vr-zone.com/Shamino/79mmod2.jpg as it shows that to get above 1.55v you need to remove the resistors enabling OCP. I haven't done this yet, but I probably will eventually.
