I am useing 83.90 drivers and with coolbits at autodetect optimal settings I get 505/1410 but I am running it at 500/1400...stable, no artifats etc., with stock cooler...idle temps 45°C max load temp 65°C
I bought a 7800GS card. (Upgraded from a 6800 Ultra.) 7800GS stock i was bummed(54xx in 32dmark05). But when i tryed OC i was in heaven. Running BF2 on high with 1280x1024 resolution and 4x anti aliasing on an almost full BF2 server (55 on a 64 player server). All running smoooooth! OC 481MHz i Core and 1.40GHz i Memory on 3dmark05 i got 6615. So if u`r considering upgrading from 6800ultra and u can afford... it`s worth the buy. Not if u`r planning running it on stock though! Ciao
My card doesnt go above 55C....and this is with quake 4 etc etc...its idle at 43C as i type this. 3Dmark05 = 7005 for me. 3Dmark03= i dont know yet
PSU........... Best to look on the actual psu for the 12v/amp so many companies sell hi watts but crap amp i used to have a 480+watts but only 12v/16 amp had lots of system issue's, thats why i said psu's are so important......
I love my BFG 7800. I'm running it at 485/1500 and all is stable. I sold my 850pro and put the money towards this card and I'm very happy. 7103=3dmark05
Psu, Basically The Higher The Amps On The 12v Rail The Better! 30 + Amps, DON'T SETTLE FOR ANY LESS, or basically your system will not be very stable..... SURDU, Looks like to me the one you stated has 28amp on the 12v rail, thats not to bad, should be ok.............maybe
Just a query: one 7800gs for agp OR one 7800gt pci-e and one pci-e capable mobo? Price, performance, what to do with old stuff... and all that matters... Watya think?
Just Bought A Bfg 7800GS I just bought a Bfg 7800gs on ebay. To replace a Pny 6600 256mb card that I have had for four month's. I just built my second computer the first one being an intel celeron d 340 ..478.. The second one being an Intel Pentium D 820 system. My motherboard is an ECS P4M800PRO-M. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813135222 Of course I could upgrade to pci-e with the cpu but this was the cheap way to go to get my rig up and running plus the motherboard is agp 3.0. What a nice surprise seeing a new agp card out this month I look forward at overclocking it.
30 amps on 12v is overkill. You dont need that much unless you have lots of fans, hds, 2 SLI 7800s etc. 20-25A should be enough for most people.
How much of a difference do you guys think it would be to go from my BFG 6800 oc 128mb to a 7800gs? Cause this card struggles with cod2 in directx 9 render. Anyone make that kind of leap?
This card is by far my best investment yet. Can run at 1280 X 1024 with all eye candy turned up and no problems. Best $300 I have spent on an upgrade yet. The card came staock at 430/1300 and so far I have it stable at 485/1450. Still have some more to go I think. Will be getting an NV 5 silencer soon and see if I can go over the 500/1500 mark
Damn Protective Plastic... Tearing And Artifacts, Much? I found the SAME thing with my card. The protective plastic must have been put on the wrong side of the perspex... or they haven't taken it off. I'm a little disappointed. I'm having some SERIOUS issues with tearing and artifacts. FEAR, 3dMark01, 3dMark03, Doom3, Black and White 2 and CoD2 all suffer. I'm a little annoyed to be honest. I'll be attempting overclocking when I know for sure it's driver related (which is what I've got my fingers crossed for) otherwise, back to the store! (it's a damn long drive too). Will update when I know more.
Read some bad reviews, but decided to get it anyway. Worked very nicely. Great upgrade from my old 5950 Ultra.
I love my 7800GS! Over 1000 point gain in 3DMark05 and a 1600 point gain in 3DMark03. Even more important, COD2 & FEAR are now smooth as butter at 1280 x 1024 Res with AA & AF enabled. Couldn't do That with my 6800GT! Tried the 84.20 drivers but no joy with those, performance was terrible, went back to the 83.90 and all is good again. Just the kick in the ass that my old agp rig needed to carry me through another year (hopefully). :nerd:
