I have a Dell P991 crt which has started to flicker sometimes. I am running at
1280x1024@85hz but it it flickers worse than it would at 60hz, tried messing with settings such as degauss but with no improvements. Sometimes if i turn it off/on it cures it sometimes not. The problem is intermitant, is my monitor on way out or does anyone know if this can be corrected?

    Interesting..

Have you always had this problem? Is there anything that's happened recently that you can correlate with the problem? Power outage/surge/new video card/etc.

If you end up going with a new CRT, Viewsonic is what I recommend.
