Don't beleive me? Check it here http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/02/17/dell_on_amd/ But seriously, Whats up with that?
eh guess it was to good to be true. Dell will continue to fork out celerons and P4's with decrease cache memory. (last dell i bought had a p4 with 128kb on chip cache) Dells are aimed at people who just surf the net and play the occasional game of minesweeper. and people who need a PC that will play modern games at low-med settings without costing a bundle. Oh well in the end, its dells mistake not to go AMD. (figuring half their decent computers are worth more in parts than full systems.)
cause dell SUCKS..in my own opinion, almost every dell i see has a problem and they have horrible PSU's life wise.
dell has good deals on laptops. I personally wouldn't buy it though. I just think dell's products have not much speciality. Just not my bag of chips. If they dont' want AMD, it is their choice I guess. I am sure Intel has something to do with this though as always. AMD's strength is being an underdog to these dilemmas so I think its all good.
Dumb of them, but it doesn't really affect any of us anyway. As far as I know, I'd think we'd want AMD to stay the underdog that it is to keep prices from getting out of hand.
My brother's got a laptop from them, and it's awesome! Not sure about the dektops, but the laptops seem great!
I mean In BB, Circuit City, etc...people have thought Dell would start using AMD chips many times and it's never happend.
I think intel says 100% intel or 0%, and i guess dell isn't going to be brave enough to go 100% AMD. but why should they? they are making plently of money with thier current business plan
Dell gets a huge discount on price from intel to stay "intel inside" only!!! Thats the main reason they stay with Intel. Another is the problems associated with chipset support and availibilty if they went to AMD. Who would supply chipsets and can they meet demand and price?? I have a feeling that Dell leaked this out to get Intel to increase thier discount to Dell and Intel knowing Dell is by far there biggest customer probably did.
Good actually, if Dell offers AMD, more people will buy Dell, making them too big=>Monopoly=>prices will go though the roof! (neh, that'll never happen, still I won't ever buy a dell, even if they offer good AMD systems)
i can get a beast Compaq for 2,999 its got 2gbs of memory and a 3800 X2 processor and i think it was 360gb.... or sumthin...
well it does not bother me but it is a bit of a shock thought that Dell are not using AMD as i think amd are a very good line of processors but. Still it wont change anything for me as i build my own computers i have only ever owned 1 make and that was a HP computer
