This monitor resolution is 2560 x 1600 and the graphic card recommended by Dell is a 7800 GTX. But when I look at the specificaiton of the card the max resolution is only support upto 2048 x 1536. Do u think the card can support this monitor? Pls Advise. Thanks
Well on Dell's site, these are the cards they suggest for use with that monitor Recommended Graphics Cards NVidia QUADRO FX3450,2DVI/VGA NVidia GEFORCE 7800 GTX NVidia QUADRO FX 4500,2DVI Evga GEFORCE 7800GTX 256MB PCIE Evga GEFORCE 7800GT 256MB PCIE I assume that means it will work .
My customer actually owned a Dimension 8400 computer (I think is a X300SE Card) and when he asked Dell, they told him that his existing video card can support this monitor. That is why he bought it but he found that he can't get it working. I am a little bit hesitate to believe them again. As I found the spec. for X300SE can support up to max 2048x1536. I really don't know why he can't get it working.
LoL any card will work on any monitor, if it has same plugs!! Thats just a "support" list ie Products they Support And they can help u with troubleshooting And about the Res thing U dont need to run that kind of res The highest u will ever need for now is 1600*1200 That res ur talking about is widescreen if im not mistaken
Hey what you need to get it to work is just a DVI-D Dual Link cable. I work for an online retailer that sells these products. You ought to go there and check it out. SEWELL DIRECT: http://sewelldirect.com/DVIDMaletoDVIDMaleDual10Foot.asp DELL MONITOR SPECS: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/global/products/monitors/topics/en/monitor_3007wfp?c=us&l=en&s=gen Although it doesn't specify on the site about this resolution, we know that it works well with Apple's 30in. And yes the 7800 GTX can certainly support that monitor. :funny:
What actually means DVI DUAL LINK cable? Is it the same as a normal DVI cable that sometime comes with a 17" LCD Monitor?
Dual Link is basically the type of DVI cable that you use between your monitor and video card. It has inside the cabling twice the amount of wiring as a regular DVI single link cable and allows for double the bandwith. Thus the new Dell 30in will only use a Dual Link connection so that it can get all of that lovely graphical information on such a big screen. This is something a 7800 series Nvidia card will support. As well as the new ATI cards.
Thanks Tikiman44, Is that means his existing X300SE with normal DVI cable will not work with that monitor?
make sure your customer has the latest Graphic drivers I know Nvidia in the last release updated for the support of that monitor resolution.
