But do u know the time ? I've read *somewhere, i cant remember where, lol* that they will release it @ 6am PST (Time-Zone)
No, there are 2 SM 2.0 tests and 2 SM 3.0 tests. If you have like Radeon 9500, it will run just 2 of 4 tests and thus lower your score. GeForce 4 series cant run it, because they only support Shader Model 1.3. You need at least Radeon 9550, 9600 and up, X300, X600,X800 series and new 1K series and with a GeForce from GeForce FX series up.
So where can we all download 06 from on the 18th? Seems Gamespot is the only place and it's not free.
Just check the file name on Gamespot then search for it on http://www.filemirrors.com/ I'm sure any server that's hosting it will be pounded tomorrow though, so don't expect any fast downloads.
There is no such thing as Shader Model 1.3. Actually there isn't any Shader Model 1.x at all. Only SM2.0 and SM3.0 and so on. Those who you were refereing to are simply Pixel Shaders version 1.3 or simplified DX8.0 specifications. PS 1.4 is based on DX8.1 specs.
HAH! I can't wait to see my super duper 9800XT run this test. Maybe I should put off that RAM upgrade and get an X850XT so I can get some sorta score on 3DMark06.
For the curious, here are some QA runs to see what the cards will run on 06. SM 3.0 is needed for a full run, but you still get a score with SM 2.0 only hardware (runs two tests). And, need a monitor with 1280x1024 support. FX-60, x1800XT full run: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=34 Here is a 7800 GTX 512 MB run: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=50 And a 7800 GT run: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=52 Parse in numbers from 32 through 54 in the URL to see more cards.
