I'll try the patch later when I get home. This is potentially a stupid question, but is this an officially released EA patch?

well, the patch is official but it doesn't include any performance updates or fixes, just cosmetic fixes and improvements, like menu fixes.

I just changed to 64 and is it really no worries to change into 128? I mean, I can't screw anything up?

My hardware configuration is in signature... all my games work perfectely... from Battlefield 2: Special Forces to Quake 4 to F.E.A.R., except for NFS: Most Wanted of course, because of that ****ing stuttering problem (anyway I try to ignore it). GG EA.

81.95 WHQL here and yes, stuttering problem is present.

even tried values like 64 96 .. but 128 gave the best result

I removed my Creative Soundblaster Live 24 Bit and began using my motherboard audio instead. It almost removed all my stuttering. I think, the stuttering primarly is sound related, because my average fps has all the time no matter what I did been between 40-60.

My PC savvy is next to primordial where hardware tweaking is involved. What's this PCI Latency tool? Is it an OS tool, a 6800GT feature, or a software utility I have to download? This stuttering problem is really getting into my nerves. thanks

Could it be danguerous? Anyway I wouldn't like to change PCI latency just for a bugged game... EA should correct the problem, not us.
