    Hi

I have just bought a new graphics card, so I tried to uninstall my older cards (Latest Nvidia Forceware) drivers, however when I go to the add/remove section and try and remove it a pop up window comes up saying error (18) no more files. Then another popup appears saying uninstall error (0) operation completed successfully, when in fact it has done nothing.

I have also tried to remove the hardware in safemode but the same problem occurs.

I looked at Drive Cleaner Pro but it said you have to uninstall the drivers first, so I am well and truly stuck.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am running xp pro sp2

    Thanks
    Matt

    Hi

I tried both of those suggestions already, I went into safe mode and tried to remove the card in the hardware section but got the same errors come up. (error 18 followed by error 0)

I have tried to re-install the drivers (in the same and a different location) but i get the same errors come up with that as well.

any more suggestions would be very much appreciated.

not sure if that is the case as i have no problems with removing anything else from the add/remove programs section. could i remove the card entries manually and then use software for the more stubborn ones?

    ok,

use google add remove + 2004 and use the trial version to delete the uninstall value,

then install an older set (use the cd that came with it)

then uninstall that set, then install a newer set,.

    Try this :-

1, Delete the Nvidia Folder from C:/
2, Run Driver Cleaner Pro anyway in Normal Mode then safe mode
3, Look for a registry cleaner then run it in safe and normal mode.
4, then try installing your card and install drivers

Or you could install new Card and install the same Version of drivers installed, then uninstall them then install the newest ones..

    Worth a try :)

I aggree with HLH its not actually important if your going to install the OLDER SET or A NEWER SET, for you to be able to uninstall it, any of the two might work. Then Uninstall it, then install the newer set...

    Run regedit and goto
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA Drivers\SubComponents
right click on the subcomponents folder and select permissions.
Add your user name to the security box and give yourself full control in the permissions box.
One you have done that you will be able to uninstall the Nvidia drivers.

Well,"IF" this is his MOBO http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=494&l1=3&l2=12&l3=0 i should be right! It comes w/ Integrated video(soldered-most common name).

So MANHATTAN24,in addition,i recommend you also to try the BIOS Setup and switch your video card to AGP(first) instead of Intrgrated Vid..
Now if you want,i can walk you through to step by step processing. Thanks! :)

Reason why i'm confused and asked him if he has another vid.Card soldered. That's gonna be also the reason why he's gettin that kind of error is bcuz his still usin the default vid. card that configured to his Bios Setup.

Or it 'might be' an IRQ conflict.I'm not sure. It's gonna be a lot of possibilities when it comes to Comp,so you have to do that step by step-on how&why.

I'm have the same problem with uable to uninstall my drivers. I was able to wipe the drivers with Driver Cleaner Pro in safe mode, but I get those same error messages when installing new drivers. Plus the the don't show up in add or remove programs. The drivers seem to be working put I have had a couple of bsod that a debugger program said was possible the video drivers faults. Any help on this is very much appreciated.
