i have an sb live, and currently the only way to plug headphones in is by the headphone-out port on the back of the computer, but because my headphones' cable is too short i have to plug them into the crappy, free speakers i got free with an old computer, which in turn plug into the card. the sound quality is noticeably reduced by doing this, as is the volume.

there is a headphone port on the front of my computer but it is not hooked up to the sb live nor to the onboard sound. how would i hook it up to the sound card so i don't have to go through the speakers? i use the kx drivers, which use the rear channel dac for stereo output, as it's higher quality. how could i ensure that i still use this when plugged into the front of the computer?
