    Hey,

I got the strangest thing my 2 512mb g-skill pc3200 utt gh sticks can do separetly 250mhz at 3,3v without to much testing. But when i put them in dual channel they wont even do 215.. ?
Anybody knows? Is it a setting or something on my mobo y dont know of..

    My system is:
Dfi nf4 Ultra-d, Venice 3000+, G-skill gh. Oh and an Enermax 460w with 24pin converter (just say it becouse maybe it has something to do with that?)
    Any suggestion is welcome.

Ps: I tryed both yellow and orange slots. And an other thing i find strange, when put in one stick, only the 2 above ramslots work. The other two the comp just wont boot up.

If you google your problem, you'll find that it has to do with Ram densities.

Simply, the more ram you have (i.e. dual channel) the lower the over clocking potential. (Even though they can be run faster separately)

Therefore, 1 stick of 1gb ram will overclock better than 2 sticks of 512mb. Thats just the way it is.

Also, follow your mobo's guide as to how you populate ram slots. If it is done incorectly, the computer will now boot.

I have never and probably will not see a 1gb stick outclock 2x512mb... when a 1gb module has a higher density than a 512mb stick...

May be a motherboard problem.. try updating the bios. (use one specifically for utt)

you could not compare 512x2 dual channel with single 512...
just loosen the timings and increase the voltage and see how far it can oc

you won't expect pc3200 dual channel could oc to ddr500?!

mine did, my ballistix 1024 3200 dual channel overclocked up to 260FSB at 2.9v timings were appaling tho 3-4-4-11 i think? where as my stock were 2-2-2-5, but thats just mine lol
    so thats DDR400 -> DDR520 StABle

In an other site (where i cannot say the name of) i see a lot of people with the same ram do much more then i do. I know, what others can do does not mean that i can do, but comon 215 they should do that easy.

This is Gskill GH PC3200 2-2-2-5 winbond UTT memory and i remember people saying that you dont want to loosen the timings of this type of ram .. ? It is not tccd.
I changed the bios 3 times, no luck.

I just know there is something wrong..

At 6.8 gigs a second, I would honestly say thats dual channel rates. I havent seen that kind of score in single.

    And cpu-z says dual.

Problem is solved! My mem yust did 9 hours of prime95 at 250mhz dual-channel, stable.
But when testing in memtest it gives errors even at 215.
That means my memtest must be corrupted or something.
Lesson learnt: do not only rely on memtest.. :bang:

I did realy not expect the problem to be there.

    Thanks for ur time.
