HI i recently got Asus A8v-Deluxe replacing my old and rusty Via motherboard .
As the Cpu i have Athlon 64 3500+ (newcastle) and the memory i use are 2x corsair value select 512mb 2 pack pc 3200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145480
As the Graphic Card i use Ati x800 pro (16 pipes enabled)
I plan to overclock to at least to athlon 64 3800+ speed with my current system. Btw! im new in overclocking world so if any of u reply my post and .. i dont know every single words that you talkin bout... please forgive me.. thank you.

Hi, What Revision is the board? the Rev 1 boards dont oc that well, due to lack of agp/pci locks

Get the 1005.21 beta bios to get the locks working on the board, if u have Rev.1 that is

    Hi

Looks like u have the rev 2, to see if the locks are active enter the bios, advanced>system frequency voltage u should get a screen similar to this

Set the agp/pci frequency to 66.66/33.33 and the locks will be activated

    Lock

ok i do have the similiar screenn as yours, but my question now is.. what are the settings that i have to set in order to achieve Athlon 64 3800+ or above speed? as i can see on your screenshot u have 200 X12 so is tha mean u running on 2.4ghz? and does my memory ram good for overclocking? i ever tried to oc'ed to 2.4ghz but when i play games.. the screen turn black or sometimes.. look split and half then it restart by it self...

To get 2.4 i suggest that u, drop the htt multiplier down to x4 or 800 in the A8V , then drop the cpu multi down to x10. Then raise the fsb/htt to 205 then test for stability, (Prime, Super Pi 1mb, 8mb) keep upping the fsb/htt in 5mhz increments until it fails a stability test then up the vcore by 0.25v then test again keep doing this until u hit 240 htt.

U might have to change the ram timings to get it stable. Any value ram will not be a good clocker and 1gb works best for ocing. My value ram cut out at 230htt at stock timings of 3-3-3-8

What are ur timings? Cpu z pic

ok, What i would do is leave the settings as they are until u get to about 230htt at that point i would suggest changing the cas latency to 3 this should get u to 240 maybe 250 if u have the right cooling
but if it is unstable earlier and u have put 0.5-0.75 volts extra through then change it at that time and then drop the volts back by 0.25
And i would recommend that u dont put more than 1.65 volts through the cpu Then to test for ultimate stabilty run prime or loop 3dmark 05 for 4-5hrs and run super pi 32mb a few times

is there any overclocking possiblities beyond.. my current setting now? maybe like 2.5-2.7 ghz? i 've seen some ppl ... could oc their cpu as fast as athlon fx 55
im so imperessed... but maybe is not stable enough...

Yeah, U could probably hit 2.5ghz, 2.5 ghz is probly the max for the newcastle core on air, but u could be lucky and if u have a good heatsink u could get 2.6. Just try and see.
