i know it's kinda old, but i need help with my half life 2. heres the problem: everytime i try opening hl2 or CS:source, it goes the loading screen and then it a pop up comes out saying "safe mode: yada yada resetting to yada yada" and it does it for 3 times and the last pop up says "needs directx7.0 or higher or something" so i updated my drives, i have a geforce 5900xt with the new one on the nvidia site, was it 77.72 or something like that? (when i did install it, i forgot to uninstall my original drivers, does that make a difference?) i mean i checked everything, i checked the drivers and its the current one and the direct x is 9.0 so what the heck?? can you guys help me? oh, it says faild to set video mode resetting video something and then the last message says reguires direct 7.x could the problem be me not unistalling the first drivers before i installed the new one?
the message says failed to set video mode-resetting to defaults game will now restart with new video settings and it keeps changing screen size and then the last message says failed to set video mode the game has a minimum requirement of direct x7.0 or higher
