I'm wondering what is the MOST fastest gaming system available right now or near?
I guess having 2x XFX GeForce 7800 GTXS 256MB PCI-e SLI would be the graphics bit (or are 7800 Ultras going to be released?)
What about the processor, a Dual-Core Operton or a FX-57?
    What about the RAM?
What about the hard drive, can you get a SATA II Raptor 15,000 rpm drive?
What about optical drives, can you get a 32x read DVD-ROM or higher?
    What about the sound card?

    I'm just curious!
    Thanks!:D

Graphics cards, atm, yeah, the 7800GTX's, chances are nvidia will wait a bit longer before the ultra (depending on ATI's release)

Processor, opterons are server chips, not much for games, also as very few games will take proper advantage of multi-threading the FX-57 is probably best right now.

Hard Drive... I wasn't aware SATA II 15k rpm drives existed.... the WDC raptor is a 10k rpm drive running off SATA. Besides SCSI drives would give better performance (at least the high end ones would).

For optical.. it'll make very little difference for gaming what drive you have, but i would say just a bog standard 16x writer.

Sound card i don't know so much about, either an Audigy 4, or another high end one (don't know makes, you'll have to wait for someone else there.

for purely a gaming rig, the FX-57 is currently the fastest chip. However an X2 4800+ would be considerably faster in multi threaded apps, so it depends on what u are building the rig for.

2x7800 GTX's are the way to go atm ;)

Motherboard - either Asus A8N SLI-Premium, or DFI Lanparty SLI-DR, depending on if u are a serious overclocker or not.

HDD's - 10,000k raptors in RAID 0, unless u are prepared to go scsi which imo isnt really worth it just for gaming.

memory - depends on if you want to overclock or not...

Sound card - wait for the Creative X-fi... looks very promising. U can always use onboard till it arrives ;)

EDIT: Also, for a high end rig, remember a high end PSU. Put aside around £100 for a decent PSU to run all that lot!

Water Cooling (Top of the line)
    FX-57 @ 3.4ghz
    DFI LanParty SLI
    4GB DDR 533 (DDR1)
    2x 7800GTX @ 550/1500
    2x 76GB Raptors in Raid 0 + 2x 350GB
    16x Dual Layer DVD +/- R/RW
    Im clueless on sound cards

Yeah, if u are confident enough, watercooling is a good idea, but for a rig like that you are gonna have to have a good high end kit, preferably custom.

    AMD Athlon64 FX-57
    2x BFG 7800GTX's SLI (oc'ed in factory)
    2gb DDR550 PC4400 OCZ Platinum
    2x 76gb WD Raptors 10k RPM SATA150 in RAID 0 + 400gb Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm SATA150
Audigy 2 Platinum Pro (or if you can wait a x-fi when it comes out)

Of course the the X2 4800+ would be the best if your looking not to upgrade for awhile, as the unreal3 engine (that ut2k7 will be using) with have dual-core support, so you would see a *huge* performance increase if you have a dual-core CPU.

Dont NEED it, but you aint gonna have the ULTIMATE gaming system with any Intel CPU. And the 4800 X2 outperforms the 3.2 GHZ PD in just about everything.... and The FX-57 owns games.

Vapochill is about 5 times better than watercooling.
    They cost about $8,000-$10,000 US

You are no where near the price, there around 1,000 CND. So i'm assumming there around 800-900 american and its a hell of a lot more then 5X better then watercooling...

    Thanks for the laugh tho..

While the Vapochill is alot better than plain old watercooling there not quite as expensive as that. I got my Vapochill XE off of Ebay for $650 US and you can pick-up a "Brand New" Lightspeed model for around a $1000 US. I have to agree that AMD is the King Of "Gaming Computers". However that doesn't mean all AMD's are better. My P4 will smoke all but the fastest AMD's out there. And it's Great at recoding DVD's, I can recode a movie with all the extra's and burn it in 25-30 minutes max. total time.

isnt gainwards the best 7800 for now? i have seen a thread here were it shows that runs much faster than other brands. I could be wrong tho.
i would like to see which monitor gets the best award since is a very important part for gaming.
