Im hoping to get A+ certified soon and don't really feel like wanting to sit through a class. Does anybody know of any good books that cover A+ certification?
I figured as much but I want to try to make money this year by building and repairing computers and the people who would be my customers dont know that A+ doesn't mean a damm and would think that me being certified by Microsoft is a amazing and prestigious thing.
well i think for the most part as long as u can repair computers people will come to you just be cheaper than everyone else
yea, from what i've heard everyone that knows better knows A+ is a joke(not saying i know better, but i have heard from people that do know better). but like you said the n00bs don't know better.

A+ Certification is not done by Microsoft, its handled by CompTIA. It is a fairly useless cert but it does help to guarantee your work. Without it and working on your own, it would be difficult to stand behind your work. A+ is only useless when you get the cert studying on your own. If you get it by training in a properly structured lab with plenty of hands on training combined with other training like network technologies(hardware) then your A+ might mean something.
The Book used at a local CompTIA A+ certification school here, is: ALL In One A+ Certification Exam Guide Fifth Edition By: Micheal Meyers Scott Jernigan From: McGraw Hill / Osbourne Book P/N: 0-07-225493-9 CD P/N: 0-07-225483-1 Pages: 1,140
A+ is no good if that all you are going to study. If you going to do alot more then it is a good start as it introduces basic hardware and software troubleshooting. As for NM+ saying they are no good and cisco are alot better i gotta disagree. I have both comptia and cisco certifications and i always get asked alot more about my comptia than my cisco cos the cisco stuff is so focussed on one topic they not really that bothered. Oh and just for the record WORK in IT A+,Network+,server+,MCSA,MCSE,CCNA and CCNP And i would not be in any job like i am now if i had not started with the A+ As for a good book i used one by a bloke called mike meyers and it was really good.
