    Hi,

going to build a new system for my lil bro and don't know if I should buy him a gf6600 or gf6600gt?

AMD Athlon K7 XP 2800+ BOX Barton
    Abit NF7-S2 Nvidia N-Force2 AMD K7 400FSB PC400
    512MB VT CL2.5 PC400
    Silver-Power Midi-T. + Temp-Displ. 420W (1128888)

are the main components... can any1 tell me the differences of the 6600 and the 6600gt? which would perform better on this rig? thx for your help...

i own a 6600 that performs really good but the obvious choice is to get a 6600gt mainly because of the gddr3 memory

i say go and get teh 6600gt

only reason why i got a 6600 is because i didnt have the cash for a gt

i mean the 6600 is a decent card but the 6600gt is worth the extra money

Yup, the GT is worth it. Check out my spex ->

Edit: Also, try to get the original NF7-S. I heard the NF7-S2 is not quite as good. Or get the AN7 ->

GT has gddr3 memory and higher clock speeds, so if you have the extra $30 go for it :)

I'd recommend the Geforce6600GT ... but im not sure if ur PSW can hold it... even if it can, it might cause some issues.
Im not sure about it tho =)
happy birthday to your brother, and good luck ;)

ok got the whole system with a leadtek 6600gt, works well till now, i'll post some benchmark score soon :)

edit: btw i got the asus a7n8x-x as mobo, does any1 know where to get a better bios version which is able to do any variable fsb counts? some o/c would be nice :) (fsb 200 is too much, 2500mhz :/)

Except the day when the 6800LE is unlocked; then the 6600GT is blown out of the water. :)
